The children wrapped up in their warm clothes and ventured outside to discover the new winter flowers so that they can explore their senses.
As the weather starts to get a bit colder, this doesn’t stop our little nature explorers from venturing outside to discover more in the great outdoors. It did mean, however, that it was time that we refreshed our flower beds with some new flowers that could thrive in the colder, winter weather.
The children couldn’t wait to go and explore the new flowers! They were very curious as to what the new flowers would look like and how they could survive in the colder weather. While investigating the new flowers, the children engaged with their senses; they touched the different textures of the leaves and petals and smelt the different smells. Together, the children then discussed the different colours that they could see, which ones were their favourites and which ones were their least favourite and why.
This was a great opportunity for the children to develop their communication and language skills, but to also learn more about the world around us.
