The Old Station Nursery is set in the Wellesbourne Campus, making it the perfect location for anyone working on or living near Warwick University. The jewels in Wellesbourne nursery’s crown are the three extra enhancements available to every child. Carefully selected to provide a premium nursery experience, these enhancements are Forest School, Organic lifestyle and Cookery.
These extra activities in addition to daily to normal activities you might expect to find in a nursery, help to set the Wellesbourne nursery education apart from anything else that can be found in the local area.
Our Wellesbourne nursery children love their days with us and set out on the next stage of their education equipped with the life-long skills gained from being in a Forest School and organic growing environment, as well as confidence around cookery and handling ingredients.
Inside, the nursery has been carefully planned to give children the opportunity to develop and grow with age-appropriate resources to support their day.
Each room has its own dedicated outdoor space that the children have access to all day, every day. Our enclosed gardens attract all kinds of wildlife for the children to see or just be able to lie in the grass and listen to the different sounds of the birds. A firm favourite for the children is the water station and the mud kitchen which provides no end of activity and role-play.

The Brighter Learning Approach (BLA) is unique to The Old Station Nursery group and is our advanced approach to the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and core pedagogy. It differs from traditional nursery teaching methods by providing real-life opportunities to enhance children’s natural curiosity, with emphasis on hands-on experiences, child-led learning, and whole development.
The six core areas promote active engagement and critical thinking whilst encouraging exploration, creativity, and collaboration. Each child learns at their own pace and is challenged and extended at appropriate times.
The best place to see the BLA in action is via our local nursery Facebook page, where each post explains which part of the curriculum the children are working on. Our parents also receive updates on the Parent App too.
Championing children's holistic health and laying the foundations for a happy, healthy and successful life.
Helping the future generation of global citizens to understand the world they live in and to believe they can make a difference.
Enabling early experiences in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM). Nurturing our next generation of investigators, inventors and innovators.
Enticing children to develop a life-long love of books and reading through engaging and interactive storytelling experiences. Building strong literacy skills while sparking imagination and creativity.
Engaging children in meaningful mathematical learning. Developing knowledge, building skills and exploring concepts, through purposeful play and plenty of practice.
Developing confident communicators by engaging in quality conversations with children every day, in a language rich and communication friendly environment.
Wellesbourne nursery has lots to offer our local children, with something different every day to inspire and teach our children.
Children learn so much during their early years and take great joy in exploring the world around them. At our nursery they’re immersed into the world of Science through age appropriate hands-on experiments and activities designed to spark their curiosity.
Budding musicians can explore different instruments at our children’s nursery, as well as enjoying rhythmic games, and participating in interactive sing-along sessions. They’ll discover the joy of creating melodies, understanding beats, and expressing themselves through music. Each activity is carefully crafted to inspire a love for music and develop their auditory skills in a fun and engaging environment.
A weekly class of Multi-sports keeps us fit and active as we learn to throw, catch, kick, run, skip and jump…all often at the same time!
Come rain or shine, we tend our vegetable plots, teaching the children about the different stages of growth cycles and exploring the different tastes and textures of the produce. As Budding gardeners, children learn about the environment and gain lifelong sustainable growing skills and enjoyment, which they will carry with them throughout their lives.
At our children’s nursery Budding Artists are encouraged to explore their creativity through activities such as painting, drawing, and crafts. With a host of resources available, children are encouraged to experiment with colours and textures, and create imaginative masterpieces that showcase their unique talents.
In our Wellesbourne organic nursery, the children learn about organic produce through cultivating and harvesting their own food.
We are partnered with SOIL Association and Food For Life, currently with a Bronze level which has been a significant first step towards improving our environment. The children eat organic food at least once a day.
It is not just the children that love our Forest School in Wellesbourne; the staff love learning to be Forest School leads as well.
From learning to whittle sticks, to den building and cooking on a fire, we follow The Old Station Nursery Forest School curriculum to ensure the best learning outcomes for your child.
We are lucky to offer a cookery enhancement here at our nursery in Wellesbourne. During these classes we use child-safe equipment and follow a curriculum which teaches important skills such as counting and measuring whilst gaining pleasure from producing our masterpieces and eating them.
If you follow the Wellesbourne Facebook page you will be able to keep up to date with what the children have made.
We are very much a part of the local community here at The Old Station Nursery Wellesbourne. The local library bus visits regularly with a new collection of books for the children to enjoy.
We also have visiting guests, the latest from Wellesbourne Police who were only too happy for the children to sit in the car and turn the siren on! We also enjoy giving back to our community through sponsored activities such as The Big Toddle walk, raising funds for Barnardo’s.
Our nursery group is passionate about the link between home and nursery; the nursery experience is just as much about the parent as it is for the child. The Old Station Nursery Wellesbourne commits to verbally updating you about your child’s day at pick-up time and also via digital updates on the parent App.
We are here at any time should you wish to call us or want to discuss any area of your child’s care. Our aim is to look after our parents as well as our children, so you can carry on with your day, work and career with a sense of peace.
First and foremost, you and we need to know that your child is safe. Before we can deliver the excellent curriculum that makes our nurseries so special, robust policies and procedures are followed to meet the exacting standards of Ofsted, building and fire regulations, food safety standards and staff DBS background checks and references.
Our staff are trained in numerous areas and we offer further training opportunities for staff who have an interest in a particular area. For example, some of our nurseries have attained Millie’s Mark, an accreditation gained by having 100% of staff on site trained in paediatric first aid.
Our daily food is cooked and delivered by an outside catering company at the moment whilst we wait for our kitchen refurbishment to take place.
Please check for updates here. We are an Organic enhancement nursery, so the children have at least one organic meal a day.
Every child has a nursery key person who knows them best and who will be the child and parent’s main contact. Your key person at our nursery will update you about your child’s day and is there to answer your questions.
When your child moves to the next age group room, we hold several settling sessions with a new nursery key person. We encourage our parents to view the new room too and we will work with you to discuss the new routines, just like we did when you first started nursery.
It is wonderful to nurture and see our children graduate to primary school. Part of the unique offering of The Old Station Nursery Wellesbourne is our focus on the next stage of your child’s learning journey.
We prepare the children through school activities, teacher meet and greets and graduation ceremonies.
Our commitment is to support our parents too by providing child learning journey updates, parents evenings or one-to-ones and home link learning kits to enhance the link between nursery and home.
All our nurseries follow the Brighter Learning Approach, our bespoke version of the Early Years Statutory Framework and within this, each nursery chooses extra clubs, activities and enhancements that are suitable for their space.
At The Old Station Nursery Wellesbourne we offer three enhancements which sets our nursery apart from other providers; these are Forest School, Organic and Cookery. We are very much a community-based nursery so you will see us out and about on our walks too.
The Old Station Nursery Wellesbourne commits to providing a simple fee structure so you can manage your nursery costs.
At this nursery we provide private and government funded sessions for eligible parents. Contact us for the nursery fee that is correct for your individual circumstances.
Each baby follows their own routine from home to help them settle nicely. The pace here is gentle and homely. When we are busy playing we might look at different leaf textures and move leaves from one height to another as we explore our environment and build our muscles.
The Toddler Room is a happy, busy and vibrant environment. Here you might find us mixing our own nature paints to create art on a large fabric canvas or we might discover what nature items float or sink. Nature has many different patterns and marks so we enjoy discovery hunts to see how many we could find and then we will bring them back to the nursery for an afternoon or arts and crafts.
The Pre-school children are led by an Early Year’s teacher in a separate building where they work on creating firm foundations in preparation for moving to primary school. Forest School is a much-loved part of the Pre-school day. An example might learning about following tracks and creating new ones to see if they can follow someone else’s path. The children might talk about reduce, reuse, recycle and rot by upcycling garden furniture or might remove vines from the trees, learning how to weave them in and out of the fences to create different designs.
