Welcome to The Old Station Nursery Uxbridge, a purpose-built and stimulating setting nestled in the bustling town of Uxbridge. Despite the lively surroundings, our nursery provides a calm, nurturing environment for children to flourish.
Conveniently located with ample parking and easy access to local transport links, our single-storey nursery is the ideal choice for busy families living or working nearby. Our warm and welcoming atmosphere ensures that each child feels secure and valued, enabling them to thrive as they embark on their early educational journey.
Our nursery features a variety of clubs to enrich your child’s experience, including in-house activities like Dough Disco and Yoga & Meditation. Additionally, we offer extra-curricular options such as Superstar Sports, which provides weekly planned sports activities for toddlers and pre-schoolers, and Shakers, a music and movement session available weekly for all age groups.
Our garden is a unique and engaging learning environment divided into two parts: a larger area for our 2–5-year-olds and a smaller, fenced-off area for our 0–2-year-olds. Each morning, we prepare the garden with creative activities, quieter pursuits for those who prefer a calmer atmosphere, and opportunities for risk-taking and imaginative play using wooden planks, types, and crates.
The mud kitchen is a favourite, where children can use our muddy menus to create their own culinary masterpieces. The babies’ garden has a large floor-level sand tray, slide, chalkboard, and a special seating area for reading stories and singing songs.
Our nursery also takes advantage of the local surroundings with visits to Fassnidge Park, Sunnyside Care Home, and the River Colne, providing varied and enriching experiences for the children. These outings complement our indoor and garden activities, ensuring a well-rounded and dynamic early years education.

The Brighter Learning Approach (BLA) is unique to The Old Station Nursery group and is our advanced approach to the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and core pedagogy. It differs from traditional nursery teaching methods by providing real-life opportunities to enhance children’s natural curiosity, with emphasis on hands-on experiences, child-led learning, and whole development.
The six core areas promote active engagement and critical thinking whilst encouraging exploration, creativity, and collaboration. Each child learns at their own pace and is challenged and extended at appropriate times.
The best place to see the BLA in action is via our local nursery Facebook page, where each post explains which part of the curriculum the children are working on. Our parents also receive updates on the Parent App too.
Championing children's holistic health and laying the foundations for a happy, healthy and successful life.
Helping the future generation of global citizens to understand the world they live in and to believe they can make a difference.
Enabling early experiences in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM). Nurturing our next generation of investigators, inventors and innovators.
Enticing children to develop a life-long love of books and reading through engaging and interactive storytelling experiences. Building strong literacy skills while sparking imagination and creativity.
Engaging children in meaningful mathematical learning. Developing knowledge, building skills and exploring concepts, through purposeful play and plenty of practice.
Developing confident communicators by engaging in quality conversations with children every day, in a language rich and communication friendly environment.
Uxbridge nursery has lots to offer our local children, with something different every day to inspire and teach our children. We hold numerous extra clubs that enhance our Brighter Learning Approach, our bespoke version of the Early Years Statutory Framework.
Our children love nothing more than when the team calls time for meal preparation or works with them during a baking morning or to produce a teatime dessert. The children learn so much from these activities, including measuring, counting, and following instructions.
At Uxbridge nursery, our Budding Movers dive into a variety of activities, including dance, sports, and beyond. These engaging experiences are adored by both children and practitioners. They seamlessly integrate movement with structured learning to enhance coordination, build confidence, and foster a sense of joy at nursery.
One of the highlights is Dough Disco, a unique fine muscle activity that combines the fun of Play-Doh with the rhythm of disco music to stimulate children’s fine motor skills. It involves actions like rolling the dough into a ball, flattening it, and squeezing it, all in time to music. This activity not only helps children develop the dexterity needed for writing but also boosts their happiness and memory through musical engagement.
At The Old Station Nursery Uxbridge, we meticulously maintain our vegetable plots, no matter the weather. Our dedicated staff guides children through every stage of plant growth, offering them hands-on experiences with our harvest’s diverse tastes and textures.
As Budding Gardeners at The Old Station Nursery Uxbridge, children learn about the environment and develop essential, sustainable gardening skills. These enriching experiences not only enhance their enjoyment of gardening but also equip them with valuable skills they will cherish for a lifetime.
At The Old Station Nursery Uxbridge, Budding Artists are encouraged to explore their creativity through activities such as painting, drawing, and crafts. With a host of resources available, children are encouraged to experiment with colours and textures and create imaginative masterpieces that showcase their unique talents.
Children learn so much during their early years and take great joy in exploring the world around them. At our nursery, they’re immersed in the world of science through age-appropriate hands-on experiments and activities designed to spark their curiosity.
At The Old Station Nursery Uxbridge, our Shakers Music and Movement sessions offer budding musicians a dynamic introduction to the world of music. Children can explore a variety of instruments, engage in rhythmic games, and participate in interactive sing-along activities. These sessions are designed to help them discover the joy of creating melodies, understanding beats, and expressing themselves through music. Each Shakers Music and Movement activity is thoughtfully crafted to inspire a love for music while developing auditory skills in a fun and engaging environment.
At The Old Station Nursery Uxbridge, children engage in vibrant yoga sessions that blend imaginative storytelling with age-appropriate routines to teach valuable yoga skills. During these classes, they practice poses such as the dog and snake and learn essential relaxation and breathing techniques. Each session is designed to be colourful and creative, aligning with the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum. This approach ensures that the yoga experience is both enjoyable and beneficial, supporting each child’s overall development.
At The Old Station Nursery Uxbridge, our Super Star Sports sessions offer children an exciting opportunity to explore a variety of sports and physical activities. Children develop essential motor skills, coordination, and teamwork through engaging games and structured exercises. Each session is designed to be energetic and fun, encouraging children to build confidence, improve their physical abilities, and foster a love for sports. Aligned with the Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum, Super Star Sports ensures that every activity supports the children’s overall growth and well-being in a dynamic and supportive environment.
Our nursery group is passionate about the link between home and nursery; the nursery experience is just as much about the parent as it is for the child.
The Old Station Nursery Uxbridge commits to verbally updating you about your child’s day at pick-up time and also via digital updates on the Parent Zone App. These daily updates detail your child’s food consumption, important moments of their day, and toileting/sleep information. We also regularly update our Facebook account with our amazing activities and achievements, and send out parents’ newsletters.
We are here at any time should you wish to call us or want to discuss any area of your child’s care. Termly, we offer parents a face-to-face meeting with their child’s keyworker during our parents’ evening. This is an opportunity to review your child’s achievements and discuss their next steps.
Our aim is to look after our parents as well as our children, so you can carry on with your day, work, and career with a sense of peace.
First and foremost, you and we need to know that your child is safe. Before we can deliver the excellent curriculum that makes our nurseries so special, robust policies and procedures are followed to meet the exacting standards of Ofsted, building and fire regulations, food safety standards and staff DBS background checks and references.
Our staff are trained in numerous areas and we offer further training opportunities for staff who have an interest in a particular area.
For example, some of our nurseries have attained Millie’s Mark, an accreditation gained by having 100% of staff on site trained in paediatric first aid.
Our daily food is currently cooked and delivered by an outside catering company while we wait for our kitchen refurbishment to take place. Please check for updates here. Our staff team completes a detailed form each day, outlining each child’s dietary needs.
This information is handed over to our resident chef, who then carefully prepares the food. We cater to all different dietary requirements, and our serving staff are trained in the handling of foods.
To increase our children’s awareness of foods, our chef shows the children the whole vegetables and asks for their choices prior to chopping and cooking.
Additionally, our children will grow their own fruit and vegetables in our garden to be consumed.
Every child has a nursery key person who knows them best and who will be the child and parent’s main contact. Your key person at our nursery will update you about your child’s day and is there to answer your questions.
When your child moves to the next age group room, we hold several settling sessions with a new nursery key person.
We encourage our parents to view the new room too and we will work with you to discuss the new routines, just like we did when you first started nursery.
It is wonderful to nurture and see our children graduate to primary school. Part of the unique offering of The Old Station Nursery Uxbridge is our focus on the next stage of your child’s learning journey.
We prepare the children through school activities, teacher meet and greets and graduation ceremonies.
Our commitment is to support our parents too by providing child learning journey updates, parents evenings or one-to-ones and home link learning kits to enhance the link between nursery and home.
All our nurseries follow the Brighter Learning Approach, our bespoke version of the Early Years Statutory Framework. Within this, each nursery chooses extra clubs, activities, and enhancements suitable for their space.
The Old Station Nursery Uxbridge enjoys multiple clubs including Yoga, Shakers Movement Classes, Dough Disco, Budding Gardeners, Movers, Artists, Scientists, Chefs, and Budding Musicians. We also hold open days where parents and carers are encouraged to come along and meet other parents to build their own personal friendships and networks ahead of primary school.
The Old Station Nursery Uxbridge commits to providing a simple fee structure so you can manage your nursery costs.
At this nursery we provide private and government funded sessions for eligible parents. Contact us for the nursery fee that is correct for your individual circumstances.
Our Baby Room is a haven of safety and exploration designed for our nursery’s youngest members. Outfitted with age-appropriate resources such as soft play equipment, mirrors, and a variety of musical instruments, it provides an environment that stimulates sensory development and early motor skills.
Regular outings in triple buggies introduce the babies to the world outside, fostering curiosity and a sense of adventure. Additionally, ‘Shaker’ classes, hosted by a music and movement company, offer a joyful experience of dancing and playing instruments, aiding in their cognitive and physical development.
These activities not only entertain but also help babies develop a sense of rhythm and coordination, setting a strong foundation for future learning.
As children grow more confident, they transition to the Toddler Room, where the environment encourages active learning through exploration and purposeful play. This room is vibrant with creativity and movement, offering children the opportunity to engage in activities such as painting, dancing, and crafting.
A unique feature of our Toddler Room is the resident heron, which nests just outside the nursery windows, providing a fascinating daily connection with nature. The presence of the heron, along with ducks and their ducklings, captivates the children and fosters a sense of wonder and respect for wildlife.
These daily observations, combined with hands-on activities, promote cognitive and emotional development, encouraging toddlers to be curious and engaged learners.
In the Pre-school Room, our ‘busy bees’ engage in a variety of activities that prepare them for the transition to school. Structured sessions focus on foundational skills such as literacy and numeracy while also providing ample opportunities for social and emotional growth.
Our pre-schoolers enjoy visits to local care homes and parks, which enhance their understanding of community and build social skills. We collaborate closely with local schools to ensure a smooth transition, even offering opportunities for children to dress up in their future school uniforms.
This room emphasizes the ‘Brighter Learning Approach’, which enriches our core curriculum by intertwining children’s natural curiosity with key skills, knowledge, and attitudes necessary for lifelong success.
Daily activities, including dough discos, yoga, meditation, and music sessions, support their physical, emotional, and cognitive development, making sure they are well-rounded and ready for the next step in their educational journey.
