At The Old Station Nursery Taplow, we know that nursery education has many benefits. Not only does it allow parents to return to work knowing their child is safe and cared for, but evidence shows that it contributes to cognitive, social, and physical development, boosts confidence and independence, and supports children’s preparation for school. To support this, our Taplow day nursery offers FREE childcare for siblings of registered children to support the whole family.
Please contact the nursery team at Taplow to determine the nursery fee that is correct for your individual circumstances.
The Old Station Nursery Taplow is a premium nursery offering three extra learning enhancements for your child; these are Organic growing, Cookery and Language lessons. It is wonderful to think that these modern learning experiences that give the very best start to our Taplow children are happening in our mock-Tudor building that was built in the 1800s!
Inside the nursery, each room is designed to include age-appropriate resources and equipment, to encourage skill-building and development. Outside, the beautiful outdoor space encourages the children to explore and develop in a natural environment.
The outdoor space promotes sensory and physical play, giving children the opportunity to become confident and independent individuals, equipped with the knowledge, skills and understanding for every stage of learning. The children particularly enjoy the new organic growing enhancement where they learn about sustainable growing practices and our impact on the environment.
When the time comes for children to progress on to ‘big school’, we are confident that the children will have the skills, aptitudes and attitudes required to thrive in their next stage of learning. It is a great time to see our children progress to their Taplow primary schools.
Please come along for a personal tour to see how your child can have the best nursery experience in Taplow.

The Brighter Learning Approach (BLA) is unique to The Old Station Nursery group and is our advanced approach to the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and core pedagogy. It differs from traditional nursery teaching methods by providing real-life opportunities to enhance children’s natural curiosity, with emphasis on hands-on experiences, child-led learning, and whole development.
The six core areas promote active engagement and critical thinking whilst encouraging exploration, creativity, and collaboration. Each child learns at their own pace and is challenged and extended at appropriate times.
The best place to see the BLA in action is via our local nursery Facebook page, where each post explains which part of the curriculum the children are working on. Our parents also receive updates on the Parent App too.
Championing children's holistic health and laying the foundations for a happy, healthy and successful life.
Helping the future generation of global citizens to understand the world they live in and to believe they can make a difference.
Enabling early experiences in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM). Nurturing our next generation of investigators, inventors and innovators.
Enticing children to develop a life-long love of books and reading through engaging and interactive storytelling experiences. Building strong literacy skills while sparking imagination and creativity.
Engaging children in meaningful mathematical learning. Developing knowledge, building skills and exploring concepts, through purposeful play and plenty of practice.
Developing confident communicators by engaging in quality conversations with children every day, in a language rich and communication friendly environment.
Taplow nursery offers a unique combination of clubs and enhancements to provide the very best in nursery care and education in the local area. The activities we engage in make the most of our interest in caring for the environment and world around us.
At our children’s nursery Budding Artists are encouraged to explore their creativity through activities such as painting, drawing, and crafts. With a host of resources available, children are encouraged to experiment with colours and textures, and create imaginative masterpieces that showcase their unique talents.
Come rain or shine, we tend our vegetable plots, teaching the children about the different stages of growth cycles and exploring the different tastes and textures of the produce. As Budding gardeners, children learn about the environment and gain lifelong sustainable growing skills and enjoyment, which they will carry with them throughout their lives.
At our children’s nursery our Budding Movers dive into a variety of activities including dance, sports, and beyond. These engaging experiences are adored by both children and practitioners, seamlessly integrating movement with structured learning to enhance coordination, build confidence, and foster a sense of joy at nursery.
In our Taplow organic nursery the children put on their gardening aprons and learn about organic produce through cultivating and harvesting their own food. A lesson might include planting seeds and then learning about the types of weather that is needed to encourage growth. We are partnered with SOIL Association and Food For Life, currently with a Bronze level which has been a significant first step towards improving our environment. The children eat organic food at least once a day, often grown by themselves and they will take their seedlings home to put on a sunny kitchen shelf.
Cookery enhancement means that the children follow a set curriculum, using child-safe equipment. They sometimes link the item they choose to bake with the theme of the week, for example, baking tennis ball shaped biscuits during Wimbledon which keeps us up to date with current affairs.
Apart from the enjoyment derived from cooking, the children are also learning maths skills by measuring ingredients, listening skills by following instructions and teamwork.
In the baby, toddler and pre-school rooms, age-appropriate language lessons now feature on our timetable including baby-signing and language songs, stories and books which can also be shared with parents to continue the learning at home.
Melody Music is a favourite time of the week where we explore music and musical instruments which are important for children’s cognitive development. We sometimes have a visit from an external group such as Dhol Collective who taught us how to use the Dhol drum.
We become scientists by participating in a new experiment every day to nurture our curiosity and build on our problem-solving and communication skills. Typical experiments can include colour mixing, watching the effect of water on paper and combining baking soda and vinegar for an exciting reaction.
Our nursery group is passionate about the link between home and nursery; the nursery experience is just as much about the parent as it is for the child.
The Old Station Nursery Taplow commits to verbally updating you about your child’s day at pick-up time and also via digital updates on the parent App.
We are here at any time should you wish to call us or want to discuss any area of your child’s care. Our aim is to look after our parents as well as our children, so you can carry on with your day, work and career with a sense of peace.
First and foremost, you and we need to know that your child is safe. Before we can deliver the excellent curriculum that makes our nurseries so special, robust policies and procedures are followed to meet the exacting standards of Ofsted, building and fire regulations, food safety standards and the checking and training of all staff.
Nutritious hot meals are prepared on-site at The Old Station Nursery Taplow by our cook and menus are rotated every three weeks.
As an organic nursery our promise is that your child will have at least one organic meal a day and the produce is often grown by the children themselves.
Every child has a nursery key person who knows them best and who will be the child and parent’s main contact. Your key person at our nursery will update you about your child’s day and is there to answer your questions.
When your child moves to the next age group room, we hold several settling sessions with a new nursery key person.
We encourage our parents to view the new room too and we will work with you to discuss the new routines, just like we did when you first started nursery.
It is wonderful to nurture and see our children graduate to primary school. Part of the unique offering of The Old Station Nursery Taplow is our focus on the next stage of your child’s learning journey.
We prepare the children through school activities, teacher meet and greets and graduation ceremonies. Our commitment is to support our parents too by providing child learning journey updates, parents evenings or one-to-ones and home link learning kits to enhance the link between nursery and home.
All our nurseries follow the Brighter Learning Approach, our bespoke version of the Early Years Statutory Framework and within this, each nursery chooses extra clubs, activities and enhancements that are suitable for their space.
At The Old Station Nursery Taplow we offer the three exciting enhancements of Cookery, Organic and Languages which truly makes our nursery unique in the Taplow area.

In the baby room there are 2 spacious areas which offer a variety of activities that support our babies growth and exploration of the environment around them.
Each baby follows their own individual routine set at home with a focus on a calm, nurturing environment.
There are 2 Toddler Rooms where we continue to follow routine whilst adapting to the child’s individual needs. Here the staff encourage independence by allowing the children to serve their own meals and pour themselves a drink of water.
Activities here are both child-led and adult-led to help them develop. The adult-led activities include our organic and cookery enhancements.
Our pre-school room is based on the top floor on the nursery and the children love having their own area.
During the children’s time with us, we work towards independence and help them gain the skills they need, ready for school, such as using the toilet independently, using cutlery and putting their coats and shoes on.
Considering a nursery is a big decision for parents so we encourage all to come along to the Open Day to really get a feel for our setting. We have lots of activities and refreshments to keep everyone entertained. Parents can learn about the early years’ curriculum and our Brighter Learning Approach, and how we communicate about their child’s learning and progress, so they know what their children has learnt and enjoyed during the day.
At Taplow, we offer FREE childcare for siblings*, allowing them to benefit from nursery education and prepare for their next stage of learning at school.
The benefits of nursery education extend to parents too, allowing them to return to work knowing their children are safe and cared for.
*Terms and conditions apply. Please contact the team at Taplow to determine the correct fee for your circumstances.
The new funding term is starting again in January and it’s important to understand the different kinds of funded childcare available to you and when you need to apply before the deadline closes on 30th November.
