We would be delighted to welcome you for a tour at our purpose-built Townsend Montessori Nursery Faversham. The team is happy to answer your questions about this exciting first step in your child’s nursery education within our home-from-home environment.
Rated ‘Good’ by Ofsted, Townsend Montessori Nursery Faversham is open year-round and proudly offers foundation education and experiences for the children of Faversham and surrounding areas. At our children’s nursery, we focus on learning through year-round outdoor play within our large garden and natural forest area.
At Townsend Montessori Faversham, we are passionate about Montessori inspired philosophy. Montessori nursery is not just about learning, it is about sparking curiosity, encouraging exploration, and helping children develop their natural interests, learn through hands-on experiences, and acquire real-world skills.
Our outdoor play area is a child’s paradise, carefully designed with their safety in mind. It features a giant sandpit and a swing log, perfect for risk-based play, fosters a sense of adventure, and helps children understand their capabilities. And don’t worry about the weather—we love the mud, so the more rain, the better!
Our children’s nursery is a short walk from Faversham town centre which hosts Faversham Library and Faversham Pools, one of the town’s most visited attractions. You will often find us frequenting the nearby Faversham Recreation Ground, exploring bug hotels and historic features amongst the 20 acres of conservation area. A buzzer entry system at the main door and coded lock gardens are just a few of the safety measures we have in place to reassure parents that safety and security are paramount to us at Townsend Montessori Faversham.

The Brighter Learning Approach (BLA) is unique to The Old Station Nursery group and is our advanced approach to the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and core pedagogy. It differs from traditional nursery teaching methods by providing real-life opportunities to enhance children’s natural curiosity, with emphasis on hands-on experiences, child-led learning, and whole development.
The six core areas promote active engagement and critical thinking whilst encouraging exploration, creativity, and collaboration. Each child learns at their own pace and is challenged and extended at appropriate times.
The best place to see the BLA in action is via our local nursery Facebook page, where each post explains which part of the curriculum the children are working on. Our parents also receive updates on the Parent App too.
Championing children's holistic health and laying the foundations for a happy, healthy and successful life.
Helping the future generation of global citizens to understand the world they live in and to believe they can make a difference.
Enabling early experiences in Science, Technology, Engineering, Art and Mathematics (STEAM). Nurturing our next generation of investigators, inventors and innovators.
Enticing children to develop a life-long love of books and reading through engaging and interactive storytelling experiences. Building strong literacy skills while sparking imagination and creativity.
Engaging children in meaningful mathematical learning. Developing knowledge, building skills and exploring concepts, through purposeful play and plenty of practice.
Developing confident communicators by engaging in quality conversations with children every day, in a language rich and communication friendly environment.
We are lucky to have a newly refurbished outdoor area at our Faversham nursery, so we ensure that much of our activity occurs in the fresh air, whatever the weather.
Come rain or shine, we tend our vegetable plots, teaching the children about the different stages of growth cycles and exploring the different tastes and textures of the produce.
As Budding gardeners, children learn about the environment and gain lifelong sustainable growing skills and enjoyment, which they will carry with them throughout their lives.
At our children’s nursery Budding Artists are encouraged to explore their creativity through activities such as painting, drawing, and crafts. With a host of resources available, children are encouraged to experiment with colours and textures, and create imaginative masterpieces that showcase their unique talents.
At our Faversham nursery, baking is frequently on the schedule. Children take great joy in measuring ingredients, rolling dough, and using cutters to make biscuits, which they proudly share with parents at pick-up time. It is a great opportunity for them to learn math skills through counting, learn shapes, use their fine motor skills, and listen and follow instruction.
We encourage sports and movement at Faversham Nursery, and our budding movers enjoy dance, yoga, football and Rugbytots delivered by professional sports coaches where children enjoy energetic and engaging play sessions to practise improved coordination, balance, gross motor skills and the important value of teamwork.
Yogamoves 4 Kids joins us every week and supports our children’s well-being. They oxygenate their bodies with different breaths, explore their bodies’ capabilities through stretching and balancing, and promote mindfulness.
Little Kickers coaches support children’s special awareness by manoeuvring, negotiating obstacles, and developing ball control.
Parents are encouraged to come along, watch, and participate in music events where they observe their children using musical instruments to make sounds to music, copying actions to songs and singing along.
Singing and music support communication development, language and literacy skills as children begin to understand rhythm and rhyme through song. With action songs and dancing, there are physical benefits of getting children moving, too.
Children’s inquisitive nature makes them natural scientists. At our nursery in Faversham, children learn through play and structured activities.
They enjoy lively chatter and debate as they explore, make predictions, solve problems, and experience the excitement of witnessing mini-experiment outcomes such as colour mixing for tie-dye.
Our nursery group is passionate about the link between home and nursery; the nursery experience is as much about the parent as it is for the child.
Townsend Montessori Nursery Faversham commits to verbally updating you about your child’s day at pick-up time and via digital updates on the parent App.
We are here at any time should you wish to call us or want to discuss any area of your child’s care. We aim to look after our parents as well as our children so you can carry on with your day, work and career with a sense of peace.
First and foremost, you and we need to know that your child is safe. Before we can deliver the excellent curriculum that makes our nurseries so special, robust policies and procedures are followed to meet the exacting standards of Ofsted, building and fire regulations, food safety standards and staff DBS background checks and references.
Our staff are trained in numerous areas, and we offer further training opportunities for staff who have an interest in a particular area. For example, some of our nurseries have attained Millie’s Mark, an accreditation gained by having 100% of staff on-site trained in paediatric first aid.
Zebedees provides our children with delicious and nutritious nursery meals. These include a range of meat, fish, and vegetarian choices, with cultural dishes featured alongside established favourites, regional specialities, and dietary requirements and intolerances.
Serving two cooked meals daily, our menus change seasonally and rotate on a three-week basis to ensure variety and a range of seasonal ingredients. We supplement this with healthy snacks, such as fruit and vegetables.
Every child has a nursery key person who knows them best and who will be the child and parent’s main contact. Your key person at our nursery will update you about your child’s day and is there to answer your questions.
When your child moves to the next age group room, we hold several settling sessions with a new nursery key person. We encourage our parents to view the new room too, and we will work with you to discuss the new routines, just like we did when you first started nursery.
It is wonderful to nurture and see our children graduate to primary school. Part of the unique offering of Townsend Montessori Nursery Faversham is our focus on the next stage of your child’s learning journey. We prepare the children through school activities; teacher meet and greets and graduation ceremonies.
Our commitment is to support our parents, too, by providing child learning journey updates, parent evenings, one-to-ones and home link learning kits to enhance the link between nursery and home.
All our nurseries follow the Brighter Learning Approach to the Early Years Statutory Framework, our bespoke curriculum. Within this, each nursery chooses extra clubs, activities, and enhancements suitable for their space.
The outdoor space at Townsend Montessori Nursery Faversham is ideal for welcoming external professionals to support us in delivering our early years provision, such as Budding Chefs, Budding Movers, Budding Musicians, and Budding Artists’ clubs. We also hold open days where parents and carers are encouraged to come along and meet other parents to build their own personal friendships and networks ahead of primary school.
Townsend Montessori Nursery Faversham commits to providing a simple fee structure so you can manage your nursery costs.
At this nursery, we provide private and government-funded sessions for eligible parents. Contact us for the nursery fee that is correct for your individual circumstances.
The ‘Bluebells’ room is dedicated to children aged 6 weeks to 2 years. Two conjoining ground-floor rooms allow young babies a safe space to learn to sit and crawl in an encouraging environment with age-appropriate resources. Older babies are supported to continue experiencing key milestones and begin making their own choices as part of our Montessori inspired learning.
Enrolling your child in a nursery is an important decision. All new Townsend Montessori Nursery Faversham parents are actively encouraged to participate in as many settling-in sessions as they wish so they are reassured that their child is safe and happy in our care and to build relationships with our staff team. As time progresses and your little one moves to a new development phase, our team are happy to support new routines to ensure a smooth transition at home and nursery.
We allow children to transition to a new room at their own pace and over a period of time, with an open dialogue with parents ensuring a smooth change. In our Poppies room, we follow each child’s routine while adding a little structure during awake times. Children self-serve their food, clear their plates, and pour their own drinks. We follow the children’s and parents’ lead during toilet training.
Here, resources allow free-flowing indoor and outdoor play and interaction, and children are encouraged to develop fine motor skills through a range of activities, including baking and writing.
Two pre-school rooms, Daisies and Tulips, offer further structure for 3 – 4-year-olds as part of our school readiness programme. Independence is encouraged; here, you will see children preparing and cutting their snacks.
Parents are welcome to view and observe each new room before transition to gain a good feel for the activities their child will be participating in.
When a theme of interest occurs amongst children, key carers are led by the children and ensure this interest is incorporated into activities.
When children recently developed a fascination with dinosaurs, staff sourced fossils and amber for the children to explore, match against pictures, and introduce new words to their vocabulary.

“I am passionate about early childhood as I have always believed that the opportunities that the children have now build foundations for their future wellbeing and learning.
