  • Who we are

A home from home environment located in the heart of the community

Occupying a converted manor house, St Nicholas is one of the oldest nurseries in the country.

Our home from home nursery was refurbished in 2020 providing a new, modern feel inside our converted grade 2 listed manor house setting.

Inside, we have four rooms carefully designed with age appropriate resources to aid the learning and development of your little one. Outside, we are surrounded by extensive and secure grounds offering all age groups a vast area for physical activities. The garden, which was redesigned and refurbished in 2017, includes a mini woodland nature walk and growing area in order to give children the opportunity to further explore and extend their play.

"I cannot recommend St Nicholas enough"

I cannot recommend St Nicholas enough. Our little boy has been there for nearly two years now and has only ever received the highest quality of care. He has always loved going to nursery and talks positively about his days and the fun he has there. The staff are always professional and have been very supportive in all areas. The ladies are approachable and friendly and keep us up to date with his achievements and further goals. Looking forward to all the fun he has to come in the next two years there!

"I will always recommend St Nicholas"

"A beautiful nursery set in stunning grounds. I will always recommend St Nicholas - my child absolutely loves his time here and the girls are outstanding in their practice. He learns something new everyday through the EYFS planning structure they have in place and always comes home tired!"

"The staff are fantastic - they are brilliant"

"My son has really enjoyed his time at the nursery; he's really happy and tells us all about his day. The staff are fantastic - they are brilliant. Management has been good and really helpful. I really like the fact the nursery has a big open space garden, so the children are not confined to a small space. We’ve had a lovely experience."

    Helping pay for your childcare

Understandably, the cost of day nursery can put many familiesoff choosing it as an option. But there are a range of Government schemes open to parents that can make nursery affordable and we will do everything we can to help you understand the choices and access the funding that you might be eligible for.

Tax-Free Childcare  – For working families earning under £100k and at least £131 per week (equal to 16 hours at the National Minimum or Living Wage) each who aren’t receiving Tax Credits, Universal Credit or childcare vouchers.

15 hours and 30 hours Funded Childcare  – For many working parents of 2 year olds, and 3 – 4 year olds for 38 weeks each year.
