Our enriched curriculum embedded into every nursery

The All Aboard Approach is unique to The Old Station Nursery Group and is our advanced approach to the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and core pedagogy. It differs from traditional nursery teaching methods by providing real-life opportunities to enhance children’s natural curiosity, with emphasis on hands-on experiences, child-led learning, and whole development.

The six core areas promote active engagement and critical thinking whilst encouraging exploration, creativity, and collaboration. Each child learns at their own pace and is challenged and extended at appropriate times.

The best place to see the All Aboard Approach in action is via our local nursery Facebook page, where each post explains which part of the curriculum the children are working on. Our parents also receive updates on the Parent App too.

Our promises at The Old Station Nursery Warwick

Parent Communication

At The Old Station Nursery Warwick, we know how important it is to stay connected to your child’s day. That’s why we work closely with families to build strong links between home and nursery.

You’ll receive daily updates through our parent app, along with detailed handovers at pick-up time covering everything from meals and sleep routines to the key moments and achievements that have shaped your child’s day.

We also keep families informed through emails, nursery notices and regular updates on our Facebook page, sharing news, activities and milestones from across the nursery community.

Safety First, Safety Always

Nothing is more important than your child’s safety and wellbeing. Before children can learn, play and thrive, they need to feel safe, secure and supported in their environment.

That’s why we follow robust policies and procedures across every aspect of nursery life, helping us meet the standards set by Ofsted and other relevant health, safety and safeguarding requirements. Our team receives regular training in areas including safeguarding, health and safety, food hygiene and paediatric first aid, helping us maintain high standards of care every day.

Our nursery is also equipped with secure access controls, including locked gates and a video buzzer entry system, allowing our team to manage access and provide an additional layer of security for children, families and staff.

Nursery Mealtimes

The Old Station Nursery Warwick provides nutritious and wholesome lunches through our partnership with Cupcake Caterers. Our rolling lunch system allows children to enjoy meals in smaller groups, creating a calm and personal dining experience while allowing play and learning to continue throughout the day.

Children are encouraged to self-serve their food, with practitioners on hand to support conversations, independence and social development at mealtimes. We’re also proud to hold a 5‑star Food Hygiene Rating following an Environmental Health Officer (EHO) inspection, the highest rating awarded by Environmental Health Officers for food safety standards.

Key Person

Each child at our nursery in Warwick has a dedicated key person who gets to know them well and acts as the main point of contact for their family.

Your child’s key person will keep you updated on their progress, celebrate their achievements and be on hand to answer any questions you may have. As children move through the nursery, we provide settling sessions to help them become familiar with their new room, routines and key person.

We’ll work closely with you throughout these transitions, helping both you and your child feel confident and supported every step of the way.

Next Stop School

Starting school is an exciting milestone, and our Next Stop School programme helps children and families prepare for the transition. Through school-readiness activities, teacher meet and greets, and graduation celebrations, children can look ahead to their next adventure with confidence.

We also support parents through learning journey updates, parent evenings, one-to-one discussions and home link learning kits that help strengthen the connection between nursery and home.

As a thank you for being part of our nursery family, children leaving for primary school in June, July, August and September will receive a £30 Clarks voucher towards their first pair of school shoes.

A room for every stage of your child’s development

Pre-school Room

At The Old Station Nursery Warwick, our spacious open-plan room is designed to create a stimulating and nurturing environment for children. The room features free-flow access to both attached toilets and an expansive garden area, which includes a large mud kitchen and a den-building zone. Inside, children can enjoy an obstacle course, chalkboard, bikes, and a scooter, all of which promote physical activity and exploration.

Our location on the grounds of a primary school allows us to use their school field, enhancing our outdoor play opportunities. Additionally, we have a water station where children independently manage their hydration, fostering self-sufficiency.

The ‘cosy area’ offers a calming retreat with sensory tubes, sensory bottles, books, and cushions, focusing on emotional well-being. We emphasise this by using an emotion board where children select and discuss their feelings each morning, helping them understand and articulate their emotions.

This thoughtful integration of play, physical activity, emotional support, and self-care not only enriches daily experiences but also effectively prepares children for the transition to primary school by fostering independence, emotional awareness, and social skills.
