Leaving your child at a new nursery is a big deal. We are parents ourselves so we know how it feels. Rest assured; your child’s welfare comes first with us. We only employ trained nursery workers. We are checked and registered with the correct legal bodies, and we are strict about the policies and procedures we follow, because your child and their childhood are just too precious to leave to chance.
Ofsted registered All nurseries are registered with Ofsted. We are happy to assist inspectors when they make non-scheduled or short notice visits to monitor the care we provide.
Robust procedures and policies Our safeguarding policies and procedures have been developed with approved, independent specialists and are used across all our nurseries.
Staff are trained right from induction to understand and implement our child protection and safeguarding policy and procedures. We only staff with enhanced DBS clearance to be left alone with children.
Our lead safeguarding officers liaise with the Local Safeguarding Children Board (LSCB) and the local authority children’s social care team, undertaking specific training.
We have strict security steps and checks in place to keep our nurseries safe, including no unauthorised personnel and full supervision for all visitors. Some of our nurseries have CCTV for internal training purposes.
PC Paws is The Old Station Nursery Group’s Health and Safety mascot and is designed to encourage the children to develop skills in recognising, judging and managing risks safely, through taking part in positive play experiences. These skills can act as a powerful form of prevention in risky situations.
PC Paws engages in a variety of activities that not only capture children’s imaginations but also impart valuable lessons in staying safe. Below are just some of the ways PC Paws ensures Safety First Safety Always.
One key aspect of PC Paws’ role is to help children understand the importance of safety when taking on new challenges. Whether it is trying out a new game or attempting a challenging task, PC Paws teaches children to approach these situations with caution and awareness, laying the foundation for lifelong safety-conscious habits.
PC Paws assists children in learning how to handle objects safely, reducing the risk of accidents during playtime and activities.
PC Paws supports children to understand the importance of proper equipment storage and transportation. By emphasising the need for tidiness, PC Paws fosters responsibility and organisation among children, helping them to prevent potential hazards related to clutter and mishandling of items.
PC Paws encourages children to judge when it is best to walk and not run, teaching them the fundamental concept of self-awareness and personal safety. This skill extends to various scenarios, including indoors and outdoors, ensuring Safety First Safety Always.
I arrived to collect my niece, and the security and the checks carried out were second to none, with ID being checked and also a password which was arranged with the parent. I haven't attended nursery for some time but the changes in the garden and environments inside, seem to have made a huge impact on the children's learning and development. I would highly recommend this nursery.
I could not be more pleased at the happiness and safety of my child. His progress is amazing and I am very grateful with everything the nursery do for him and with him. I look forward to seeing his next steps in the next room in the next few weeks. Thank you!
The nursery is so professional, the safety of the children is paramount. The staff are always so cheerful and happy to see the children. The range of food is great and the activities the children do are exciting, interesting and go with the interests of the child.
Our nurseries are equipped with secure entry systems, CCTV monitoring, and child-proofed classrooms. We conduct regular safety drills, and our staff is trained in first aid and emergency procedures. All equipment and toys are regularly inspected and cleaned to ensure a safe environment.
All staff members undergo thorough background checks, including criminal record checks (DBS checks in the UK), references, and interviews. We also ensure that they have the necessary qualifications and experience in child care and safety.
We adhere to recommended staff-to-child ratios to ensure that each child receives adequate attention and supervision. For infants, the ratio is typically 1:3, while for older children, it may be 1:8, depending on their age.
Our outdoor play areas are securely fenced and regularly inspected to ensure they are free from hazards. Children are always supervised by staff while playing outside, and we ensure that the play equipment is age-appropriate and well-maintained.
