The Brighter Learning Approach (BLA) is unique to The Old Station Nursery group and is our advanced approach to the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and core pedagogy. It differs from traditional nursery teaching methods by providing real-life opportunities to enhance children’s natural curiosity, with emphasis on hands-on experiences, child-led learning, and whole development.
The six core areas promote active engagement and critical thinking whilst encouraging exploration, creativity, and collaboration. Each child learns at their own pace and is challenged and extended at appropriate times.
The best place to see the BLA in action is via our local nursery Facebook page, where each post explains which part of the curriculum the children are working on. Our parents also receive updates on the Parent App too.
Championing children's holistic health and laying the foundations for a happy, healthy and successful life.

At The Old Station Nursery Pershore, children learn both indoors and outdoors, making the most of our large outdoor areas. During your visit, you’ll see how our environment supports this smooth transition.
We also offer different clubs each week to enrich our Brighter Learning Approach, which follows the Early Years Statutory Framework.
At our children’s nursery Budding Artists are encouraged to explore their creativity through activities such as painting, drawing, and crafts.
With a host of resources available, children are encouraged to experiment with colours and textures, and create imaginative masterpieces that showcase their unique talents.
At The Old Station Nursery Pershore, our children tend to vegetable gardens where they learn about how plants grow and discover different tastes and textures.
They take on the role of Budding Gardeners, learning about the environment and gaining skills in sustainable gardening, further helping them to develop a love for learning and caring for nature that lasts.
At The Old Station Nursery Pershore, Budding Movers explore a range of activities like dance, sports, and more.
These fun experiences are loved by both children and staff, blending movement with structured learning to boost coordination, build confidence, and nurture happiness at nursery.
At The Old Station Nursery Pershore, our Budding Scientists love exploring the world around them. They enjoy hands-on experiments with different materials, developing problem-solving skills along the way.

At The Old Station Nursery Pershore, we prioritize communication with families to create strong home-nursery partnerships. We use Parentzone for daily updates and photos, keeping you informed about your child’s activities and care.
This is complemented by verbal handovers, fortnightly newsletters, and active Facebook updates. Regular parents’ evenings and catch-ups ensure ongoing partnership and feedback. Parents play a crucial role in our community, participating in staff recruitment and shaping our nursery’s direction through reviews and events.
We also support your child’s transition from one room to the next with the help of their current key worker, providing regular settle sessions to familiarise them with their new room and staff team.
First and foremost, you and we need to know that your child is safe. At The Old Station Nursery Pershore, robust policies and procedures ensure compliance with Ofsted standards, building and fire regulations, food safety standards, and thorough staff DBS background checks and references.
Our dedicated staff receive extensive training across various areas, with opportunities for further development based on individual interests. For instance, some of our nurseries have achieved Millie’s Mark accreditation, indicating that 100% of our staff on-site are trained in paediatric first aid.
In addition to these measures, we prioritise security with a key-coded gate and keypad operated front door at our nursery. Each child is assigned a unique parent password, and all visitors are required to provide identification and are supervised throughout their time at the setting.
At The Old Station Nursery Pershore, we prioritise promoting healthy eating habits and celebrating cultural diversity through enriching food experiences. Our menus feature a variety of dishes from diverse cultures, expanding children’s palates and accommodating dietary needs with options like vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free meals.
Our onsite chef prepares all meals from fresh ingredients, with Pre-School children often assisting as part of our cookery enhancement. The chef also tailors the menu to include celebrations throughout the year, such as Chinese New Year, Easter, and other cultural events, further enriching the children’s culinary experiences and understanding of diverse traditions.
Every child has a nursery key person who knows them best and who will be the child and parent’s main contact. Your key person at our nursery will update you about your child’s day and is there to answer your questions.
When your child moves to the next age group room, we hold several settling sessions with a new nursery key person. We encourage our parents to view the new room too, and we will work with you to discuss the new routines, just like we did when you first started nursery.
It is wonderful to nurture and see our children graduate to primary school. Part of the unique offering of The Old Station Nursery Pershore is our focus on the next stage of your child’s learning journey. We prepare the children through school activities, teacher meet and greets and graduation ceremonies.
Our commitment is to support our parents too by providing child learning journey updates, parents evenings or one-to-ones and home link learning kits to enhance the link between nursery and home.
Additionally, we facilitate a smooth transition within our nursery, with gradual moves to the next room supported by the current key worker. Regular settle sessions familiarise each child with the new room and staff team, ensuring a comfortable adjustment period. This approach extends seamlessly to preparing children for school, emphasising continuity and confidence throughout their time at our nursery.
All our nurseries follow the Brighter Learning Approach, our bespoke version of the Early Years Statutory Framework. Within this, each nursery chooses extra clubs, activities, and enhancements suitable for their space.
The Old Station Nursery Pershore enjoys multiple clubs including Budding Gardeners, Budding Movers, Budding Scientists, Budding Chefs, Budding Musicians, Budding Artists, Boogie Beats and Storytime. We also hold open days where parents and carers are encouraged to come along and meet other parents to build their own personal friendships and networks ahead of primary school.
