This week, the children at Good Manors Day Nursery Manor Lodge have been learning all about road safety through fun activities, from painting traffic lights to singing songs.
At Good Manors Day Nursery Manor Lodge, we’ve had a fantastic time celebrating Road Safety Week. All the children across the units have been busy learning about how to stay safe on the roads, and we’ve had a variety of fun activities to help teach these important lessons.
Some of the exciting activities included: 🎨 Painting our own traffic lights 🚦 Using our traffic lights to help people cross the road 🚗 Small world play with cars, people, and traffic lights 🚕 Learning the stop, look, and listen song 🚛 Exploring road safety with different tuff trays 🪣 Making our own car wash 📚 Reading road safety books 🚸 Learning about lollipop people and what they do
Through these hands-on activities, our little learners have developed a better understanding of the importance of road safety and how to stay safe when out and about in the community. Our Clever Creators have been busy thinking critically and learning valuable lessons.
The staff also took time to explain how traffic lights work, and the children’s answers were fantastic: “Red means stop” (one child even used the Makaton sign for stop ✋) “Amber is slow down, sometimes daddy goes through the amber light but stops when it is red” “Green means we can GO GO GO!”
It’s been a week full of learning and fun, and we’re so proud of how engaged the children were. We’re sure that these lessons will stay with them as they grow and explore the world around them.
