We are incredibly proud to share that our Head of Catering, Stewart Pittam, has successfully achieved the Level 3 accreditation from the ‘Early Years Chef Academy: Building Health Through Food’, awarded by The London Early Years Foundation.
This nationally recognised qualification is a testament to Stewart’s dedication, expertise, and passion for supporting children’s development through nutritious and appealing food. The course focuses on enhancing the knowledge and skills of chefs working in early years settings, enabling them to make meaningful contributions to children’s health and well-being.
· Understanding the impact of food on health and child development
· Understanding the role of early years chefs
· Making dishes healthier, more appealing, and appropriate for dietary requirements
This achievement reflects Stewart’s commitment not just to preparing meals, but to creating food that supports learning, development, and enjoyment in our nurseries every single day.
Commenting on the accreditation, Stewart shared: “It’s been a real privilege to complete the Level 3 Early Years Chef Academy Award. Nutrition in the early years plays such a vital role in children’s growth, development and learning, and I’m proud to be part of an organisation that takes this responsibility seriously. This course has deepened my understanding and given me fresh ideas to help make our menus even more inclusive, engaging and healthy for every child across our nurseries.”
As Head of Catering at The Old Station Nursery, Stewart plays a pivotal role in shaping our approach to food education and sustainability. He leads by example, ensuring all children in our care benefit from balanced, nutritious meals that meet a wide range of dietary needs and help instil healthy habits from the very start.
We’re thrilled to see his skills and hard work recognised through this qualification, and we know our children, families, and staff will continue to benefit from Stewart’s leadership in the kitchen.
Congratulations, Stewart – from all of us at The Old Station Nursery Group!
