Welcome to our latest newsletter! Most of the older children have now left us to start “big school” and it has been quite an emotional time with all of these “Goodbyes,” but I am sure that we have played a major role in setting up the children for bigger and better things to learn at school.
In Twinkle Stars this month we have been learning to pull ourselves up and cruise around the furniture for most of the day, this has been very useful whilst standing at the messy play tables patting and splatting most of what has been on offer, to create a huge mess with! We have been rolling balls down the guttering pipes and have also been exploring the plants growing in the garden, lovely smelly ones that we can touch and pull and use all of our senses whilst doing so.
The children in Sunshines have been practicing their balancing, by walking along the low flat grass planks as well as the planks of wood, raised a bit higher onto the large tyres. Their confidence has grown and most of them are now ready to move up into Pre-School 1, they have all had little visits over the last few weeks. The children have been listening to their favourite stories and singing their favourite songs each day and are ready to learn soe new ones when they move up a room. They have been playing with the wild animals in the tuff trays, with all sorts of exciting media in there, to create habitats and environments for the different types of animals.
This month most of the older children have had visits into Pre-School 2 and are just about ready to move into their final room before going to school. They have also been looking at creepy crawlies out in the garden and learning about caterpillars and how they turn into butterflies. They have been making marks in the gel and paint inn the tuff trays and beginning to understand they can draw with just their fingers.
This month we have said goodbye and good luck to some of the children who have left to go to school. We are looking forward to welcoming the children moving up from Pre-School 1. We have been using the Plaster of Paris, to create some moulds of different objects such as the dinosaurs, shells and even our hand prints. The children have been doing lots of problem solving activities involving numbers and counting. Some of the children have been very interested in space and the planets and we talked about the meteor showers and the names of the planets and the distances and times it would take to get to them.
What’s coming up next month
Next month we would like to say we will enjoy a late summer heatwave, like they keep forecasting, but will probably be discussing the weather and temperatures and the differences in the season with Autumn just around the corner now.
Other important information
We are very sadly saying goodbye to three more staff this month, Amy from Pre-School 2, she has recently moved house and the commute is now a bit difficult, so is relocating to a nursery just five minutes from her new house. Alarna, from Twinkle Stars, has also decided to have a career change, and we wish her every success in her new job. Laura, from Sunshines, has also decided to relocate to a new nursery and, after 10 years, will be missed by all, but wish her the best of luck in her new job role too.
We are still recruiting for new members of staff, so if you know anyone that needs a very rewarding career in childcare, please send them our way.
Thank you all for your recent reviews on Google, Facebook or Daynurseries.co.uk. Your kind words and feedback really do make our day and we really appreciate the time spent on leaving us a review. If you haven’t yet had the chance to write a review and would like to, we would be very grateful. You can do this on Google, Facebook or Daynurseries.co.uk
A reminder for those children who attend on a term time only basis, the new term starts back on Thursday, 2ndSeptember.
Finally, if your child is leaving us at the end of this term to move up to school, their last day will be 31st August unless you have told us otherwise. If your child is not starting school straight away and you would like them to come to us for any additional sessions early in September, do let me know so that I can check our availability.
