The youngest children at The Grange Montessori Nursery have become super scientists, exploring different colours, mixing and pouring.
To start, the children experimented with dry pouring with coloured sand. They used spoons to scoop the sand and mix the different colours together in the buckets. This encouraged the children to use their motor skills whilst learning about different colours.
To extend the children’s learning, they were next challenged with pouring coloured water. Again, the children used their motor skills to transfer the water between the jugs using the cups. They did such a fantastic job, carefully pouring the water and mixing it to create new colours!
Simple science activities such as this, encourage the children from a young age to develop critical thinking and problem solving skills, creativity and a love of learning. ‘Super STEAM’ is part of our Brighter Learning Approach curriculum at nursery, which provides children with hands-on, interactive experiences that integrate Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Technology.
