“Children flourish in this inclusive and welcoming nursery.”
The Old Station Nursery Stratford-upon-Avon Pre-school received an ‘Outstanding’ Ofsted report following a routine inspection. The report found that “Staff know the children exceptionally well, and each interaction is used to share new ideas and information.”
The report awarded an ‘Outstanding’ in all four categories, including quality of education, and described how “Children are curious and confident learners” and “Staff focus on enhancing children’s language and communication skills.”
The pre-school is located on the site of Bishopton Primary School, which is the ideal location for children planning on attending the local school. The pre-school’s free-flowing environment allows children to explore indoors and outdoors independently. The extensive outdoor area includes a large forest school, playground, grassed areas for the children to use their physical skills to run, climb, balance, and negotiate age-appropriate challenges, and space to grow fruits and vegetables. The indoor area offers an ample classroom space where children can interact with ICT resources, be creative, construct, and play imaginatively, engaging in social development with their peers.
The Ofsted report comments, “Children have ample opportunities to participate in outdoor pursuits. They freely access a large garden with a great variety of opportunities on offer. Children develop a strong core as they push sack trucks across the soggy ground to transport resources and use large paintbrushes to draw on the fence and ground. These skills foster strong coordination and a sense of spatial awareness, which enhance children’s early writing techniques.”
Manager Lucy Stanley is delighted with the report’s outcome: “We are so proud of our Outstanding rating from Ofsted. The dedicated team and I work incredibly hard to ensure each child is happy and settled. This, in turn, aids each child in reaching their important milestones and gaining the essential knowledge and skills for their next steps in learning and their future education.”
She continued, “Parent partnerships are incredibly important to us, too, and we ensure that they are fully informed of their child’s progress to support learning at home.”
