The children and staff at Sunhill Day Nursery in Berkhamsted have been busy creating some wonderful scarecrows! Check out their fun creations and see how they've embraced this autumn tradition.
At Sunhill Day Nursery in Berkhamsted, autumn has arrived in full force—and so have our amazing scarecrows! The children and staff have had a blast getting creative and bringing the season to life with their own handmade scarecrow creations. From the youngest explorers to the older children, everyone has enjoyed taking part in this fun, hands-on activity.
Inspired by the classic autumn tradition, the children crafted their scarecrows using all kinds of materials—straw, fabric, and colorful accessories. It wasn’t just about making a scarecrow; it was an opportunity to explore different textures, colors, and shapes, while also practicing teamwork and imagination. And the best part? The children had so much fun as they sang along to the popular song, “I’m a dingle dangle scarecrow with a flippy floppy hat! 👒 I can shake my hands like this 👋 and shake my feet 👣 like that!”
Seeing the children engage with this activity was a joy for everyone at Sunhill. It’s moments like these that make our nursery such a special place. Whether they were shaking their hands, stomping their feet, or simply enjoying the creative process, the children’s enthusiasm was infectious.
At Sunhill Day Nursery, we believe in providing an environment where children can explore, create, and develop new skills through play. This scarecrow project was a wonderful way to encourage imaginative play, fine motor development, and a sense of community. It also gave the children a chance to connect with nature and celebrate the changing seasons.
