At the beginning of October, the children had a fun filled morning visiting St Lawrence Church to learn about the Harvest Festival, led by the fantastic Reverent Gail.
The Harvest Festival takes place each year in October and signifies the traditional start to the autumn season. The exact date of the festival changes each year and occurs on the full moon that appears closest to the autumn equinox. The children had a wonderful time listening to an engaging story about ‘Sammy the Seed’ and what he needed to grow. The children listened with lots of curiosity, imagining what Sammy the Seed looked like, as well as all of the different fruits and vegetables. The children then enthusiastically joined in with actions and songs to explore the festival further, as well as talking altogether about their favourite fruits and vegetables.
This was a fantastic way for the children to learn about the wonderful world around them and discover more about their community. All the children used their communication skills to describe their likes and dislikes, and it was fantastic to see the children do this so confidently.
We are extremely excited to return to St Lawrence Church later this year for our Christmas visit. Thank you for Reverent Gail and everyone at the Church for engaging with our children and helping them to discover more about the Harvest Festival.
