Celebrating a Birthday at hdc Nursery Newton Abbot

Today, the Meadow room at hdc Nursery Newton Abbot celebrated one of the children’s birthdays in a special way. The Toddlers set off on an exciting adventure to explore the shops for the ingredients to make a birthday treat. As they walked around, they carefully picked out the items they needed and practiced their lovely manners by saying “please” and “thank you” at the tills. It was a great opportunity for the children to engage with the community, practise social skills, and learn about the world around them.

Back at the nursery, the Toddlers worked together as a team to make rice crispy cakes. The nursery team encouraged them to share the mixing duties and take turns using the decorations to make the cakes extra special. It was lovely to see the Clever Creators working side by side, developing both their fine motor skills and their ability to cooperate with one another.

This activity was not only fun but also provided an excellent opportunity for the Toddlers to learn about teamwork, making choices, and practising important life skills like manners. The children had so much fun creating their cakes, and we can’t wait to share them with the birthday child!
