We’re expanding with a new Pre-school building

We’re excited to share some wonderful news from Harpole Day Nursery! To meet the growing demand for childcare in our community, we’ve opened a brand-new pre-school classroom, creating space for 16 more children to join our nursery family.

For some time, our nursery has been operating at full capacity, with 36 children filling our rooms each day. While this is a reflection of the trust local families place in us, it has also meant that many parents have faced waiting lists. This new space will help ease oversubscription and bring peace of mind to families searching for high-quality childcare in Harpole.

The new pre-school room has been thoughtfully designed to provide children with a bright, inspiring, and practical learning environment. Complete with its own toilets, staff facilities, and direct access to outdoor play areas, the space seamlessly extends our home-from-home setting while giving pre-schoolers the independence and freedom they need.

“We are so pleased to be able to welcome more families into our nursery,” said Sheridan, our Nursery Manager. “The demand for places has been very high, so this expansion means more children in Harpole can enjoy the nurturing, home-from-home environment we are known for.”

Our new pre-school children will also take part in Next Stop School, The Old Station Nursery Group’s tailored programme designed to make the move to primary school exciting and supportive. Each child receives a special backpack and milestone tracker, helping them celebrate achievements both at nursery and at home. Parents are kept closely involved too, with regular updates and termly parents’ evenings.

Rooted in our Brighter Learning Approach, Next Stop School helps every child leave nursery with not only strong literacy and numeracy skills, but also the confidence, independence, and emotional readiness to thrive when they begin school.

As Emma Pittam, Early Years Director of The Old Station Nursery Group, explains:

“The transition to school is a huge milestone, and our role is to make that move exciting, engaging and positive—not just for the children, but for their families too. Increasing the space at Harpole so that pre-schoolers can have their own dedicated environment will further enhance our pre-school provision, providing endless opportunities for learning, growth and development.”
