Wellness Through Connection: Mental Health Awareness Week

Logo

Balancing my mental, emotional and physical health is a priority in my daily life and helps me to stay grounded and energised. Daily fresh air and being around nature is important to my physical health, appreciating the simple things in life, and taking time to clear my mind and allow time for reflection, generating ideas and prioritising actions - my strong extroversion means I often talk these through on my drive home!

Connection is deeply important to me. My emotional health is fuelled by my social cup being full, and I thrive from spending quality time with family and friends. Positivity is contagious, but so is negativity so chose your circle wisely. I surround myself with people that are uplifting and those who fuel me with positive energy. This maintains optimism, removes toxicity and protects my own mental space.

I have a ‘life is for living’ attitude and prioritise what is important to me. A well-spent weekend making memories helps me maintain balance, gratitude and align with my values. However, life isn’t always easy. I unfortunately lost my Mum recently who was my deepest connection, and the primary source of my positive attitude and comfort, which has been the most painful experience of my personal life.

Grief is not a linear process, and connections with others have truly helped me to navigate my way through. We spend about a third of our waking time at work each week, meaning these connections and community play a vital part in our overall mental health. My work tribe and team have been an emotional safety net and provided kindness and understanding, whether it be with a listening ear, a hug, or a source of laughter, they have truly helped me through and have been like an extended family. Thank you!
