The Old Station Nursery has signed the Pregnancy Loss Pledge, a national initiative from the Miscarriage Association designed to ensure that employees experiencing pregnancy or baby loss are met with understanding, empathy, and meaningful support in the workplace.
This step reinforces the group’s ongoing commitment to supporting colleagues through every stage of life, including its most difficult moments. Pregnancy loss can be an incredibly distressing and isolating experience, and yet current UK legislation does not entitle employees to statutory paid leave if the loss occurs before 24 weeks.
In response, The Old Station Nursery has revised its policies, ensuring that compassionate, fully paid leave is available to all employees affected by such loss, regardless of the stage of pregnancy. The group’s approach is underpinned by the belief that every situation is deeply personal, and that support must be flexible, thoughtful, and led with compassion.
“Signing the Pregnancy Loss Pledge is part of a much bigger commitment to the well-being of our team,” Tamsyn Allington, Chief People Officer said. “As a community, we believe in walking alongside our colleagues through life’s most challenging times. Connection and care are at the heart of our community, and we want everyone to feel supported, respected, and never alone in their grief.’’
