On Saturday, July 27th, Sixpenny Day Nursery in Devizes opened its expansive gardens to welcome the local community to its annual Summer Fete. With the sun shining, visitors of all ages took part in fun-filled tabletop activities, a treasure hunt, a raffle, and face painting. The cake stall was a hit with guests who indulged in a variety of sweet treats, and younger guests particularly enjoyed letting off steam on the bouncy castle.
Wiltshire Council fostering team members were also present to support the event and were happy to speak with guests about different options and ways to support other children.
The team at the Ofsted-rated ‘Good’ children’s nursery is passionate about early years education and giving children the best start in life, so they took the opportunity to raise funds for a local boy, Myron, who sadly has acute leukaemia. Myron has been missing out on schooling when receiving treatment in the hospital and would greatly benefit from an iPad to support remote tuition. The event raised enough through the Sunny Days Charity to cover the full cost.
Nursery Manager, Natasha Bishop comments, “We had an amazing day! I want to thank our Sixpenny supporters, families and staff team for joining us for another fun-packed event and the many local businesses for donating generous prizes for our stalls and raffle. Giving back to our local community is so important to us, and I am proud to have raised enough funds to support Myron and send him all our very best wishes.”
Located in Devizes, Wiltshire, Sixpenny Nursery provides a stimulating learning environment for all children. Founded in 1989, the nursery is based in a purpose-built setting at Roundway Hill Farm. Surrounded by acres of land with easy visibility of the wildlife in the acres of land around us, including rabbits and deer, it is the perfect place for little ones who love nature. The nursery also has a dedicated area for its own pygmy goats, where the children can excitedly feed and care for them.
