Mindful Moments at The Old Station Nursery

The Old Station Nursery proudly marked Mental Health Awareness Week (12th–18th May) with a week-long celebration centered around the power of community, connection, and contribution — bringing together nurseries, area teams, and support office staff across the country.

Each day of the week offered a thoughtful and engaging theme to spark reflection and action, from Mindful Monday to Feel Good Friday. Staff and children took part in everything from calming photo challenges and nature walks to acts of kindness in local communities and feel-good dance parties.

The week saw hundreds of photos shared from across the group — showing mindful moments, bursts of green from Wear It Green Day, and creative activities all promoting the importance of mental well-being. The nurseries were filled with the feeling of connection, and simple gestures—such as the Deputy Manager at Stratford Nursery introducing a well-being basket filled with uplifting notes—made a big impact.

Tamsyn Allington, Chief People Officer at The Old Station Nursery, said:

“This week has been more than themed days and shared moments (though we’ve loved those too!). It’s been a gentle call back to ourselves, to check in on how we’re really doing, and what we might need. Mental, physical, and emotional well-being isn’t a once-a-year event. It’s a daily practice. A way of working, leading, and living.”

The Old Station Nursery continues its commitment to well-being beyond the week itself, reminding everyone to carry these mindful habits forward—because sometimes, it’s the smallest moments that make the biggest difference.
