At Little Green Rascals Elvington, we believe that learning happens in all sorts of wonderful ways—and sometimes, the best learning takes place in the kitchen! Every Tuesday morning, our Pre-school children have the fantastic opportunity to join Michael, our talented Kitchen Assistant, for a fun and interactive cooking class. This has quickly become a favourite weekly activity, where the children not only develop essential cooking skills but also get to enjoy some delicious treats they've made with their own hands!
Learning Through Cooking
Cooking with Michael is more than just making tasty snacks; it’s an educational experience that teaches children about ingredients, kitchen safety, and healthy eating habits. Each week, Michael introduces them to new recipes, giving the children hands-on experience in measuring, mixing, and preparing food. They’re learning valuable skills that will serve them for a lifetime—plus, they have a great time doing it!
Building Confidence and Creativity
In these sessions, the children have the freedom to experiment with different textures, flavors, and cooking techniques. This helps to boost their confidence and encourages creativity. Whether they’re rolling out dough, cracking eggs, or decorating cupcakes, each child gets the chance to be involved in the process from start to finish. It’s amazing to see their pride when they taste their finished creations!
