At The Old Station Nursery Marlow, children aged 0-5 years old are welcomed into a warm, thoughtfully designed setting where care, learning, and everyday discovery come together.
The nursery is open all year round, Monday to Friday. Full-day care runs from 8am to 6pm, with an early start available from 7.30am. This gives local families dependable childcare across the year, alongside private, funded, and part-funded sessions, subject to eligibility and availability.
Located within the grounds of Foxes Piece School, just off the A404 and close to Marlow town centre, the nursery offers on-site parking for drop-off and pick-up. The familiar school setting can also help the next stage of a child’s journey feel less unfamiliar when the time comes.
Marlow combines a newly refurbished indoor and outdoor environment with four distinctive enhancements: Forest School, Organic, Cookery, and Montessori-inspired learning. Together, they give the children opportunities to grow in confidence, independence, curiosity, communication, and practical life skills.
The Old Station Nursery Marlow sits in a single-storey setting within the grounds of Foxes Piece School. The nursery was extensively refurbished inside and out, creating welcoming rooms and a redesigned garden that support the changing needs of babies, toddlers, and pre-school children.
Each space is arranged to encourage choice, movement, and independence. The children can find calm areas for rest, open-ended resources for exploration, and plenty of opportunities to move between indoor and outdoor play.
The location is practical for families travelling through Marlow or using the A404. Being close to the town centre and having on-site parking can make nursery drop-off and pick-up easier within a busy working day.

The All Aboard Approach is unique to The Old Station Nursery Group and is our advanced approach to the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum and core pedagogy. It differs from traditional nursery teaching methods by providing real-life opportunities to enhance children’s natural curiosity, with emphasis on hands-on experiences, child-led learning, and whole development.
The six core areas promote active engagement and critical thinking whilst encouraging exploration, creativity, and collaboration. Each child learns at their own pace and is challenged and extended at appropriate times.

Cookery enhancement means that the children follow a set curriculum, using child-safe equipment. Apart from the enjoyment derived from cooking, the children are also learning maths skills by measuring ingredients, listening skills by following instructions and team work.
Our parents love to see their children in their chefs’ hats and aprons as they whip-up their next delight.
Marlow’s Forest School enhancement was launched in 2024 and boasts new outdoor equipment. Nature itself is a teacher, so we pull on nature’s resources to learn about the seasons whilst using our extensive resources to learn about fire, wood and woodwork.
Marlow staff are trained to follow The Old Station Nursery Forest School curriculum to ensure the best learning outcomes for your child.
In our Marlow organic nursery, the children learn about organic produce through cultivating and harvesting their own food.
We are partnered with SOIL Association and Food For Life, currently with a Bronze level which has been a significant first step towards improving our environment. The children eat organic food at least once a day.
The Montessori method emphasises five key learning areas of Practical Life, Sensorial, Language, Mathematics and Knowledge and Understanding of the World.
Each of these areas uses specific learning materials and practises, which are introduced in phases to our Marlow children.
We love to dance at Marlow nursery. Each week a team of external early-years professionals come along to take a dance session where the children learn to move or simply go with the flow, helping to build confidence and expression.
Weekly mini-sports is also a favourite where the children learn catching and throwing skills, skipping, jumping and kicking ball skills.
Messy Mornings is a firm favourite for the children and our parents tell us they would rather have the mess on our nursery floor rather than on the home carpet! These activities can include anything from paint to flour to leaves, playdoh, lentils, shredded paper and glue to name a few.
In essence, Messy Mornings uses items that the children love to get their hands on, bringing their creative development and fine motor skills to the fore. Our nursery environments are designed to support messy play and we can easily tidy up, spik and span in time for lunch.
Alongside our dance class we love nothing more than exploring music and musical instruments which are important for children’s cognitive development.
Children learn so much during their early years and take great joy in exploring the world around them.
Starting in baby room and through to Pre-school, Marlow’s nursery children learn about different materials, how to problem solve, observe and predict; always being encouraged to ask questions about the world around them.
Come rain or shine, we tend our vegetable plots, teaching the children about the different stages of growth cycles and exploring the different tastes and textures of the produce. As Budding gardeners, children learn about the environment and gain lifelong sustainable growing skills and enjoyment, which they will carry with them throughout their lives.
At our Marlow nursery, we embrace Montessori-inspired teaching to nurture independence, confidence, and a love for learning. Children are encouraged to explore at their own pace using real-life materials, carefully prepared environments, and hands-on activities that promote practical life skills, problem-solving and focus.

The baby room is divided into age-appropriate areas, giving the youngest children space to rest, explore, move, and play at their own pace. Sensory experiences, music, marks, textures, and close interaction with the team support curiosity and early development.
We work closely with parents and carers to understand feeding, sleep, comfort, and care routines. This continuity helps babies feel known, safe, and settled while they begin to build a close relationship with their key person.
Toddler spaces support growing independence, communication, movement, and social confidence. The children have access to sensory materials such as paint, clay, water, and sand, alongside role play, construction, stories, music, and outdoor exploration.
The team models kind behaviour, helps the children name and manage feelings, and supports everyday skills such as handwashing, self-serving at mealtimes, and making choices.
The pre-school environment balances creative and messy experiences, construction, role play, puzzles, physical play, and focused activities linked to each child’s next steps. Forest School, growing, and cookery are woven into everyday learning.
Through Next Stop School, the children build the confidence, communication, independence, and self-care skills that will support their move to primary school. Links with local teachers help make the next chapter more familiar.
Cookery is part of the children’s learning at Marlow. Wearing chef hats and aprons, they use child-safe equipment to measure, mix, follow instructions, and create food together. These practical experiences support early maths, communication, coordination, teamwork, and confidence.
Nutritious hot meals are prepared on-site by the nursery cook, with menus rotated every three weeks. Dietary requirements, allergies, and intolerances can be supported, and the nursery aims to include organic ingredients each day.
Marlow holds a Food Hygiene Rating of five. The nursery also works with local suppliers, including The Meat Hook of Marlow, helping meals feel connected to quality ingredients and the wider community.
