Following a recent inspection, local nursery, The Old Station Nursery in Granta Park, received a ‘Good’ Ofsted rating.
Formerly Sunhill Day Nursery and newly relaunched as The Old Station Nursery, the Montessori-inspired nursery provides full-time care all year round for children aged 0-5.
The most recent Ofsted inspection mentioned, “Leaders and staff create a warm and stimulating environment that ignites children’s curiosity and interests.”
It continued, “Staff are exemplary role models. They have good knowledge and understanding of children’s development. They complete regular observations and assessments to track children’s progress. In addition, staff identify next steps in children’s learning, which they review regularly and share with the parents.”
The purpose-built nursery provides a stimulating and safe environment, expanding children’s learning and curiosity through clubs, enhancements, and The Old Station Nursery’s curriculum, the Brighter Learning Approach. All of these aim to enhance the EYFS, ensuring that all children develop a life-long love for learning.
Commenting on the recent grading, Nursery Manager Nicola Henge said, “After joining as manager at the beginning of the year, my vision for The Old Station Nursery Granta Park has been to provide the children, parents and team with a supportive and inspiring environment where the children feel safe and secure to thrive within enriching experiences which will have positive impacts on their futures.”
She continued, “I am very proud of the team for this fantastic achievement; it is a true testament to their hard work and dedication.”
Earlier in 2024, the premium nursery launched four new services to complement its offering, including weekly cookery classes, a focus on organic food to support cooking ingredients, with the nursery partnering with the SOIL Association and Food For Life for accreditation and age-appropriate language lessons. All are delivered in a Montessori-inspired way that follows a philosophy of children better reaching their potential when submersed in a thoughtfully prepared environment that introduces new concepts to children at their own pace.
