Bringing Paddington’s Story to Life

The week was centered around Michael Bond’s beloved character, Paddington Bear, and the children fully embraced the theme with a mix of hands-on creativity, storytelling, and exploration. The activities included:

  • Storytime Adventures: Reading tales of Paddington Bear and discovering his love for marmalade sandwiches.
  • Themed Tuff Trays: Interactive play areas inspired by Paddington’s escapades, sparking imagination and creativity.
  • Cooking Fun: Walking to the local shop to buy ingredients for homemade marmalade sandwiches—Paddington would have been proud!

🚌 Exploring York with Paddington

The adventures didn’t stop at the nursery. The Cheeky Hens took their Paddington Bear theme out into the world with:

  • A bus trip to York City Centre to visit the Paddington Bear statue, where they posed for memorable photos.
  • A guided tour of York Minster, one of the city’s most iconic landmarks. Here, the children explored the stunning architecture and learned about the history of this awe-inspiring building.

💚 Learning Through Adventure

These experiences went beyond fun—they provided wonderful learning opportunities:

  • Literacy skills were enhanced through story reading and retelling Paddington’s adventures.
  • Life skills were developed as the children shopped for ingredients and practiced following directions during their marmalade-making activity.
  • Cultural awareness grew as they explored York Minster, deepening their connection to the city’s history and heritage.
  • Social skills were fostered as the children worked together, traveled as a group, and interacted with their community.
