The Old Station Nursery Group has acquired Orchard Farm Day Nursery in Henley-on-Thames, where it will register to care for 64 children under the age of five, whilst plans to offer a holiday clubs for five to 11-year-olds are in the pipeline.

The nursery is currently registered for 48 children.

All 30 full and part-time children along with 12 staff will transfer to The Old Station Nursery on 2nd January 2013. The manager of the group’s setting at RAF Benson, Julie Crake, will move over to run the new nursery on that date.

Julie said: “I’m delighted to have been asked to help put The Old Station Nursery stamp on to our new Henley setting. It will be very sad to leave my team, the children and the families at Benson, but I am excited about my new venture. This is a setting with lots of outdoor space and as it’s on a farm, the children are also able to visit and feed animals such as goats, ponies and rabbits. The countryside setting is the perfect environment for children to learn, grow and play.”

The Old Station Nursery is taking over Orchard Farm Day Nursery after the current owners Nick and Carole Gorvin, who have run the countryside setting for the past eight years, decided to move away from the childcare sector.

The new nursery has dedicated babies’, toddlers’ and pre-schoolers’ rooms and huge open gardens and backs onto a woodland area which children can take advantage of for outdoor walks. There is also ample parking for parents picking up and dropping off children.

Managing Director Sarah Steel said the new setting will be a valued addition to the group, which runs eight other nurseries, an after-school club and a crèche across Oxfordshire, Lincolnshire, Gloucestershire, Berkshire and Nottinghamshire.

“Providing high-quality childcare for families is something I feel passionate about and I’m pleased to be able to offer that service now to those living and working in the Henley-on-Thames area,” said Sarah. “This new setting will be a perfect addition to the group.”
