Sandhills Day Nursery in Wolverhampton is proud to announce a successful charitable initiative.
In a heartfelt effort to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need, the nursery has collected donations for the local food bank The Well with a Harvest Hamper, and simultaneously raised funds for Macmillan Cancer Support.
The nursery, which joined the group in 2021, provides full time and part time care for children aged 0-5 years old.
The nursery started the month by taking donations of food, toiletries, and baby items to contribute to their 2023 Harvest Hamper. This has now been donated to the local food bank The Well.
The Well is a Christian charity, which provides food parcels and essentials for those who are in need. The charity support families and single people struggling to buy food and other essentials here in the City of Wolverhampton, by providing emergency food, inc. baby food, as well as adult and baby toiletries.
Commenting on the incredible donation, Nursery Manager at Sandhills Day Nursery Wolverhampton, Blair said.
“We have been overwhelmed with the generosity of our children and parents who have kindly donated an incredible amount of food, toiletries, and baby items to our Harvest Hamper, which we donate to our local food bank ‘The Well’ every year.”
She continued with
“As a Reggio-inspired setting, being involved with the local community is such a big part of our ethos, and we are so pleased we are able to help this worthwhile cause once again this year.”
Nurseries across The Old Station Nursery Group recognise the importance of supporting local food banks. The nursery aims to instil a sense of social responsibility and empathy for others. The commitment to this cause reflects the group’s belief that every child, every family, and every individual in the local community deserves the chance to flourish, regardless of their circumstances.
As well as this, the nursery hosted a Macmillan Coffee Morning on Thursday 28th September 2023, raising a total of £ 52.37 for Macmillan Cancer Support.
In aid of Macmillan Cancer Support, the coffee morning is one of the biggest fundraising events to support people who are living with cancer. Although the charity raise money all year round, it is their annual September appeal that is well-known and participated in nationwide.
Throughout The Old Station Nursery Group, which encompasses over 79 nurseries across the United Kingdom, both children and dedicated teams at each location enthusiastically participated in celebrating and fundraising for Macmillan Coffee Morning. They organised an array of engaging events, including bake sales, coffee mornings, and more, all contributing to the collective effort to support this vital cause.
Promoting and commemorating national and international events, such as Macmillan Coffee Morning, holds a significant place in the core values of The Old Station Nursery Group, extending its influence across both the administrative offices and the individual nurseries. The nursery’s commitment to enriching children’s learning and development is exemplified through opportunities that enable them to explore diverse subjects, fostering a deeper understanding of the world around them.
