The Old Station Nursery Forest School Devizes, formerly Sixpenny Day Nursery, has been extensively refurbished and rebranded, marking an exciting new chapter for children, families, and the local community.
The nursery has undergone significant investment across its indoor and outdoor spaces. Inside, refreshed rooms, new furniture and resources, cosy corners, and dedicated sleep spaces have created bright, warm, and welcoming environments for children to learn and play. Outside, the nursery gardens have been transformed, including a new sensory garden.
The Forest School has also seen significant investment, creating even more opportunities for children to connect with nature and learn through meaningful, hands-on experiences. New additions include a yurt, fire pit, allotment and potting shed, woodworking and den-building areas.
Supported by three qualified Forest School practitioners, children can explore the natural world, develop new skills, take age-appropriate risks, and build confidence and independence. They also help care for the nursery’s animals, including goats, chickens, tortoises, and fish.
The nursery’s Forest School and outdoor provision has also received national recognition, having been named a finalist in two categories at this year’s National Nursery Management Today (NMT) Awards for the categories Nursery Outdoor Learning Environment of the Year and Forest/Beach School of the Year.
Families can see the transformation for themselves at our Open Day on Tuesday 6th October, from 10am to 3pm.
