Wombourne September News: Cars, Creativity and Baking

The Old Station Nursery Group - Creating Brighter Futures Together

September news

Many of our children moved into their new rooms within the nursery this month and have settled in really well.

The Mr Clever’s children have been talking about “All about me....” and getting to know each other! We have had lots of new faces join us over the last few weeks so we have all been making new friends. It is fantastic to see new friendships forming and the children settling so well.

Sheldon, our African land snail, had babies! Lots of them at that – a grand total of 28! Some of our families who attend nursery have rehomed some of the babies. Please send us updates on EYlog on their progress.

The Mr Mischief’s children have enjoyed playing with the new large scale car, lorry and truck this month. These resources are encouraging the younger children to develop the skill of using play words whilst exploring; for example, brrr” whilst pushing the car along. One child in particular has taken a great interest in cars and often asks to be picked up to look out of the window to look at the cars driving around the village.

We welcomed back some more of the nursery team in September so all of our team are now reunited and back with the nursery family! Due to increased numbers, Lydia has remained working at Sandhills Wombourne and hasn’t transferred to Sandhills Heath Mill.

Well done to Danii who has completed her Level 3 Childcare qualification!

What’s coming up in October

We are looking forward to a number of events in October which will help to enrich the children’s learning even further.

‘The Big Draw’ is happening throughout October which means the whole month is all about creativity! We will be creating a new staff train on the wall leading up our stairway. Throughout the month, the children will also take part in various creative activities to express their own interests, thoughts and opinions.

The week commencing the 5th October is ‘Space Week’. We will be talking about space, learning all about the planets and making our very own rockets to travel up to space.

We also have ‘National Baking Week’ in October so we will be baking lots of yummy treats at nursery. We will have these yummy treats at snack or at tea as we are unable to send any items home at the moment.

And, of course, it is Halloween in October!! We will be celebrating this spooky event on Friday 30th October with a fancy dress day and lots of fun activities.

Other important information

Please be reminded that no items, such as toys or unnecessary items, should be brought into nursery due to the risk of cross contamination between home and nursery.

All parents should have received our ‘Parents Procedure for Coronavirus’ recently via email. Please adhere to this at all times. If you need another copy or for some reason didn’t receive the original copy, please do contact the nursery.

We continue to have drop off and collection at the front door and are still unable to allow any parents into the setting. Thank you for your cooperation in these difficult and challenging times, we really do appreciate all of your ongoing support.

If you have time, we would be very grateful if you could leave us a review on Daynurseries. You can do this online by clicking here. Thank you for your continued support.
