|Welcome to our June newsletter, and a special welcome to all of our new families. We hope you’re all enjoying the sunshine as much as we are! It’s been lovely to spend lots of time outside. Our sunflowers outside of nursery are starting to grow really tall and are nearly at window height so we can see them from inside.
This month we have been celebrating the special men in our lives for Father’s Day, whether this be our Daddies, Grandads or Uncles. The children have enjoyed telling us all about these special people and why they love them so much. Looking at family photographs has been a particular favourite and creating arts and crafts to send home to celebrate Father’s Day has been so much fun.
Our babies have enjoyed playing in the ball pit with their friends. We have also enjoyed snuggling up in the cosy tepee and listening to music. Outside the babies have made marks in paint and used the chalks to create patterns and marks on the floor. We have kept cool with lots of water play activities!
Mr Mischief’s have been enjoying sand play, in particular a dinosaur hunt, where the children used spades and brushes to search for the hidden dinosaurs in the sand. Lots of splashing in water has kept our older babies cool. We used soapy water with sponges to wash the animals and then got them nice and dry with towels. We talked about self-care and how we clean ourselves at home.
Mr Bump’s caterpillars have turned into beautiful butterflies! The children have thoroughly enjoyed looking after the caterpillars and watching them grow. We made our own Play Dough by weighing out all of the ingredients and mixing all the mixture together to form the dough. Mathematical language was used such as big and small, and the children enjoyed looking and the numbers on the weighing scales. Lots of fun was had in the process of making the playdough!
The children in Mr Messy’s have enjoyed exploring with the loose parts in the outdoor area in particular, using guttering and drainpipes for car tracks. We have also used large crates and used tyres to form an obstacle course. Self-serving at mealtimes has been introduced with all of the children making healthy choices and developing their independence and self-help skills.
Mr Clever’s took part in PE week where the children undressed and dressed themselves encouraging independence in self-help skills in readiness for school. To encourage teamwork the children took part in different obstacle courses and a football match. The children were asked to work in groups to decide what teams they would like to be in. We had so much fun that we have continued to play the same games when we go outside.
What’s coming up next month
Monday 26th July 3-4.30pm will be Mr Clever’s Graduation Party. Unfortunately, due to restrictions and limited space at nursery, parents will not be able to attend the party. All children are welcome to the party where we will hold a Graduation ceremony and then enjoy a tea party in the garden afterwards.
Friday 30th July we will celebrate World Friendship Day by talking about our friends, making cards and learning all about friendship and what it means to us.
Other important information
We would like to welcome Abby to our team! Abby has joined us as an apprentice and will be undertaking her Level 2 childcare training with us here at nursery.
Sadly, we will be saying goodbye to Kim who has worked at the nursery for several years as Lunch Cover. We would like to wish Kim all the very best for the future!
Please be reminded that one months written notice is required to terminate your contract with us at nursery. If your child is leaving us to go to school or pre-school please ensure that when giving us your written notice you inform us of your child’s last day of attendance with us.
An email has recently been sent out regarding changes to our policies and procedures. We ask that no sweet treats are sent into nursery to celebrate children’s birthdays or celebrations. We will celebrate in other ways such as singing Happy Birthday and using our wooden cake, wearing party hats etc. This forms part of our Food Allergies and Intolerance policy and our Healthy Eating procedures that we follow. Sunscreen is now provided by nursery unless parents wish to use a particular brand. If you wish to use a particular brand and supply your own, please speak to a member of staff.
If you are going on holidays or child will be absent from nursery please inform nursery. It’s our safeguarding policy to keep children safe and if your child is due to be in nursery and is absent without informing us, we will give you a call to check all is well. So that we don’t interrupt any family time please let us know when you will be absent from nursery.
The last day of term for the children who attend term time only sessions (Think2 funded) will be Wednesday 21st July. So, if your child attends on a term time only basis this will be the last day that they are able to come until the Autumn term starts again in September.
Thank you so much for your continued support.
