Wombourne April News: Sensory Tent, Bubble Machine and Life Cycles

Sandhills Wombourne

We hope you all had a lovely Easter, with plenty of outdoor fun in the beautiful Spring sunshine we have had. With the warmer weather, we have been improving our outdoor area with some new chalk boards on the walls and a new mud kitchen. Lots of fun has been had by all!

April news

Thank you to everyone that created an Easter Bonnett at home, there were so many wonderful creations. The children had a wonderful time at nursery taking part in various Easter activities. They enjoyed egg and spoon races, egg hunts and sensory Easter tuff tray activities.

This month, the Babies have enjoyed the new bubble machine inside and outside. They have used their hands to reach for the bubbles and to pop them. The children have explored the farm animals in the tuff tray with the tea encouraging the babies to make animal sounds to develop their communication and language development. We have then looked at the farm animal books at story time as many of our children have enjoyed a day out at the farm with their families recently.

The older babies have enjoyed exploring in the new sensory black out tent this month. The children have been looking at and fascinated by all of the different colours and patterns that the disco ball projects inside the tent.

Throughout April, the Toddlers have shown an interest in the plants outside and, in particular, the mint that is growing. The children enjoyed planting their own cress seeds and are enjoying watering them daily. We can’t wait to see them grow!

The older toddlers have been learning all about the life cycle of a frog. The children have been lucky to have some tadpoles at nursery and they have been watching them getting bigger and bigger.

This month, the pre-school children found out which school they will be going to in September. Exciting times ahead! At circle time, we have talked about school and what the children are looking forward to doing at school. All of the children are very excited about ‘big school’. We will be contacting all of the schools over the next term to arrange transitions between your child’s key worker and their new setting.

What’s coming up next month

As always, next month will be full of lots of exciting learning opportunities for the children. We hope that the weather will remain sunny and warm so that we can spend as much time as possible outside. The older toddlers will be looking at the life cycle of a butterfly in May, with the children having their own caterpillars at nursery to watch grow and develop into a butterflies

May is National Walking Month, so please do send us any pictures of any walks you go on via EYlog.

Other important information

We would like to welcome Kieisha to our staff team. Kieisha is undertaking her Level 2 childcare qualification with us.

The nursery will be closed on Monday 3rd May and Monday 31st May for bank holidays.

Please be reminded to provide sun cream and a sun hat for your child whilst at nursery. We ask that the sun cream bottle is clearly labelled with your child’s name on.
