May news

In our Little Miss Tiny’s Baby room, it has been a very exciting and busy month. The children have explored different festivals and celebrations such as International Dance Day and International Space Day. For International Dance Day, the children enjoyed dressing up in dance costumes and dancing to different varieties of music. For International Space Day, the children enjoyed looking at different planets on the solar system. The babies enjoyed rolling the planets in the paint to mark make as well as observing astronauts and rockets blasting off into space.

In Mr Smalls, the children have enjoyed investigating the small world this month as well as mark making and animal printing. In Mr Mischiefs, the children have enjoyed exploring the paint in a variety of ways including splatter painting and using spray bottles. The children have also had lots of fun playing in the sand, emptying and filling containers.

The babies also enjoyed celebrating Children’s Day where they looked at different ethnic backgrounds as well as and Nurse’s Day, where the children enjoyed looking after poorly teddy bears; helping them to get better by applying bandages and checking their temperatures.

Throughout May, the toddlers in Little Miss Sunshine’s have enjoyed making and playing with the playdough. They have also enjoyed the book ‘Room and the Broom’ so the children made a broom! When it broke, along with the story, the children made a potion to create a new broom.

The children have also enjoyed making aeroplanes this month as well as tickets, so that they could go on the aeroplane.  In Mr Bumps they have enjoyed being outdoors and have shown an interest in the mysterious weather, especially watching the hailstorm. The children’s favourite was the thunder and lightning! They created their own interpretation of the storm sounds using musical instruments, pasta, rice and party poppers. The staff and children would also like to welcome Jasneek to  Mr Bumps room!

In May, the Pre-schoolers in Little Miss Giggles  have really enjoyed the process of construction. They have enjoyed exploring and experimenting with a variety of different ingredients to create textures. The children made cement using the loose parts and wooden blocks to build with. They enjoyed the process of using their imagination to assemble a range of spectacular models and structures.

The children have also been fascinated by the amazement of gravity when learning about the solar system and all the different planets on Space Day. The children created their very own rockets using crafts and junk modelling pieces.  The children also celebrated Eid-al-Fitr this month, where they created their own mosques and patterns using the small coloured shapes.

In Mr Messys, the children have enjoyed planting cucumbers outside and they now watching them grow. They also enjoyed celebrating Space Day and made aliens out of green slime.  The children enjoyed learning about the solar system and they were asking “What’s inside the Earth?”.  The children then used the computer to find out the answer to their questions. Following this, the children used playdough and tissue paper to create their own earth.

Other important information

Can we please ask you to ring/email the nursery by 10am if your child/ren are not going to be attending. If you also have any upcoming holidays arranged, please do let us know the dates of these. This would be much appreciated

If your child is leaving us to start their next adventure at ‘Big School’, can you please email the date you will leaving us as we require 4 week’s notice.

We are excited to have some new staff joining us in June. A warm welcome to Mya, Nicola, Chloe and Arundeep who are all looking forward to working with us.  Sharanjit will be leaving us in June to start her maternity leave and we wish her well.

Please remember that that all of our COVID precautions are still currently in place, therefore, only one adult should be dropping off/collecting children and face coverings must be worn (unless exempt). If your child also has any symptoms of COVID they must self-isolate and have a PCR test. Please note a lateral flow test is not sufficient when a child is showing any symptoms.  As soon as you have a negative PCR result and your child is well enough, they can return to nursery.  If your child has a temperature then we cannot allow them into nursery before they have had the results from a PCR test back, even if you have given your child paracetamol/ibrofuen, this is to ensure that this is not masking any symptoms of Covid.

The employee of the month for May is Amy, our Admin Assistant. Amy has done such an amazing job of organising all of the parents evening appointments. Due to the restrictions in place, it was a very different parent’s evening this year as we had teams calls, telephone calls and face to face appointments to organise. Thanks to her hard work, it all ran very smoothlyThank you for all of your support and hard work, Amy!

A small reminder that it is bank holiday on Monday 31st May and the nursery will be closed.

Thanks you all for your continued support.
