Wolverhampton March News: Colours, Books and Spring

March news

This month, the Babies in Little Miss Tiny’s have enjoyed exploring various different colours of the rainbow.  To showcase this, the staff set up activities to represent the colours of the rainbow. They used items such as jelly playcolourful rice, rainbow shredded paper and colourful ballsIn Mr Smalls, the children have enjoyed celebrating the various events happening throughout March, such as Mother’s Day and St Patrick’s Day. They have also enjoyed exploring colours and different materials. In Mr Mischiefs, the children have enjoyed water play, the cars and sensory water beads. They have also enjoyed creating crafts in the build up to Easter and have had lots of fun mark making in the sand.

Throughout March, the Toddlers in Little Miss Sunshine’s have really enjoyed storybooks; ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar’ being their favourite. This interest then led onto exploring the caterpillar’s favourite food and having a picnic. The children have also enjoyed making keyrings for Mother’s Day as well as celebrating World Book Day, St. Patrick’s Day, Global Recycling Day and Red Nose Day. In Mr Bumps, the children have enjoyed being outside; doing lots of running, obstacle courses and exploring how the environment is beginning to change from Winter to Spring. They have also shown concern towards animals and have wanted to leave water, fruit and seeds out for the animals to eat and drink.

This month, the Pre-schoolers in Little Miss Giggles have really enjoyed exploring nature. They have watched caterpillars grow into beautiful butterflies and learnt about the different stages and processes of growth. The children also enjoyed World Book Day at the beginning of March, where the children dressed up as their favourite characters. The children also enjoyed sharing their favourite stories with their friends throughout the day.

The Pre-school children also celebrated Mother’s Day and made some lovely tea light holders. They got very creative when decorating them and enjoyed adding their own personal touches. The children also enjoyed getting messy and creative on St Patrick’s Day, exploring marking making using green paint with a variety of tools and experimenting with different methods. The children and parents of Little Miss Giggles all got involved in raising awareness for Red Nose Day by making carnival crowns which were very impressive.

In Mr Messys, the children have enjoyed watering their sunflowers and giving them as gifts on Mother’s Day. They have planted carrots outside as well as cucumber seeds. We can’t wait to see them grow. For St. Patrick’s Day, the children made rainbow sun catchers and they also enjoyed role playing as pirates, making treasure maps and eye patches.

What’s coming up in April

In April, the Babies in Little Miss Tiny’s will be celebrating the arrival of Spring and observing many animals associated with this season. They will also be continuing with exploring sensory materials. In Mr Smalls, the children will be exploring animals and in Mr Mischiefs, the children will continue to play with sensory activities.

The Toddlers in Little Miss Sunshine’s will be looking forward to celebrating Easter by doing lots of Spring crafts and planting their own flowers. In Mr Bumps, the children are looking forward to seeing how the environment continues to change. The children will also be celebrating St. George’s Day and many other special days.

In April, the Pre-schoolers in Little Miss Giggles are looking forward to having even more fun! They are currently enjoying creating their own parties and décor, so will continue with this interest. They are also looking forward to celebrating and learning about more festivals and celebrations.

The Pre-schoolers in Mr Messys will continue growing carrots and cucumbers next month. They will also look at what other fruits and vegetables they are able to grow out of the ground.
