Welcome to our March newsletter. It’s been another busy month for the children!

March news

You’re never too young (or old!) to enjoy a book! On the 4th March, we celebrated World Book Day and proved just that. The children and staff had fun dressing up as their favourite book characters. The Toddler room put out a lovely Gruffalo activity to encourage the children to fill in the missing words as the story was being read to them. The children in Preschool had a book week, based around the author Julia Donaldson. They created a display of ‘Room on the Broom’ from the children’s work.

On Wednesday 17th March, the children celebrated St Patrick’s Day. The children enjoyed activities across the nursery to celebrate the day; Preschool made rainbow footprints and used peppers to print shamrocks; the Toddlers also did some printing, using St Patrick’s Day themed cutters as well as a filling and emptying activity.

The Preschool children have always had a fascination with bugs and nature, and this has been no different this month. We are lucky that the Preschool garden has places that the children can dig. This month, they were excited to find worms! This kept the children busy for a very long time. The worms were carefully put back under the trees before the children went back inside.

Throughout March, the Babies have been getting thoroughly messy with some edible paint; using natural yogurt and food colouring, they went on to do some wonderful vegetable printing. The Toddlers have also been looking at shape recognition this month while Preschool enjoyed making a den under a table! They then used the sensory light for some relaxation time.

We have had some building work going on in nursery over the last week or so. Melissa is delighted to have a completely new kitchen!

What’s coming up in April

We have lots to look forward to next month!

As with March, April brings us lots of exciting celebrations and events such as: Easter, the Queen’s birthday and St George’s Day – just to name a few. We will provide a number of activities for the children to explore these events and extend their learning even further. We will also be looking at all things Spring!

Other important information

As previously communicated, we will be moving our Facebook page over to join The Old Station Nursery Group’s social media channels at the start of April. Not only will we be on Facebook, but this now means that we will be on Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn too! We have already started providing regular content so please do make sure you are following to keep up with all of the fun things that happen in nursery.  Follow us by clicking here for Facebook, here for Instagram, here for Twitter and here for LinkedIn.

A reminder that we will be closed over the Easter bank holiday weekend: Friday 2nd April – Monday 5th April. We reopen at 7.45am on Tuesday 6th April.

Please can I remind you to park courteously and not block people’s drives or the front of nursery carpark. Thank you for your understanding.

As always, thank you all for your continued support.
