Uxbridge July News: Picnics, Parties and Ice Cream

The Old Station Nursery Group - Creating Brighter Futures Together

Hello! Summer holidays have arrived – what a quick year this has been! We have had an amazing month here at Uxbridge, but sadly we have had to say goodbye to many families whose children are moving on to ‘big school’ in September, and then the same again during August for the rest of our school leavers who attend nursery all year around.  When you work within the Early Years, children leave an imprint on your heart, we will miss them ever so much but know they are moving on to the next exciting chapter of their lives.  Don’t forget – if your child is a school leaver, our Graduation is being held on 31st July, please contact us should you not have received your invite!

July news

During July we have welcomed many new children who have settled in exceptionally well. We have made changes to the layout of our baby room and the children are loving the larger more open space for them to play, explore and experiment with different resources and toys.

Language is developing rapidly amongst our babies and it is super cute hearing them communicate their wants and needs. We have introduced them to flour and shredded paper play which was a blast – then finished off our month with a water party outside. During July our Toddlers and pre-schoolers had many fun and exciting events. This month we celebrated the Euros reaching the finals. We made England flags, played games of football, and bought in trophies and medals from home to talk and discuss competitions.

We were saddened by the events that took place after England’s last match and some of our children were aware of what had happened regarding racism, so we used this opportunity to celebrate our differences and discuss why it is important to be kind.

We also enjoyed having a picnic with our nursery friends and our teddies from home. We have enjoyed lots of role play, dressing up and learning new dances. As the weather has been amazing these past few weeks, we have spent lots of time outside, planting our new planter train and having fun with a variety of different equipment outdoors. Lastly our children really enjoyed our end of term Water party. We had a great day playing party games and cooling down with water fun in the garden!

We had a visit from the Ice Cream Man in July, and Jenna treated us all (staff didn’t miss out either!) to a yummy ice cream on a hot summer’s day.

What’s coming up next month

We will be holding telephone/video consultations for all families during July and August – please watch out for an email to explain this process. This invitation is for all families to catch up with their child’s key person to discuss how they have been getting on. We understand how incredibly difficult it is now during Covid-19 times so catching up during July will be extra important to continue to support parental partnership across the nursery.

TOSNU Travels will be off to the Caribbean to explore their culture, foods and learning a bit about this amazing part of the world – we would love some parental input here where possible. We will also be taking part in Watermelon Day (3rd) Left Handers Day (13th), Tell a Joke Day (16th) Carnival Day (27th) and Eat Outside Day (31st). We will also be closed for Bank Holiday on 30th August 2021.

Other important information

Our Early Years Foundation Stage Curriculum is changing from September. We shall be using the period between August and September to train our team to roll out from September onwards.

The shifts in focus will be on ensuring that our educators are spending ‘quality time’ with our children, interacting, playing, following the pursuits of the children, and engaging in quality extension and enhanced learning. As a result of this, paperwork will be significantly reduced, which will have an impact on how we ‘Observe and Assess’ your little ones without reducing the quality. We have voted as a team and we have decided we will be using Birth to Five Matters from September which will support our planning and development of children under 5 years old. We have added a link below, along with the new Statutory Early Years Framework (Sept 21) so you can look at both should you wish to see them.

Please may we remind you that terms re-starts on 1st September for all Term Time Only Children.

We have enrolled a whopping 23 registrations since June 1st  and our Babies are now full on a Tuesday. So with this in mind we are busy recruiting to expand our team. We are looking for a qualified level 3 or above member and one apprentice. If you or anyone you know may be interested, please do send your CV to premieruxbridge@theoldstationnursery.co.uk

We just wanted to remind you of our Refer a Friend scheme. When you refer a friend and they join the nursery, we will thank you with a £100 discount off your next invoice. We know that you are always recommending us, so we just wanted to say a big thank you for your referrals. There is no limit on referring your friends, so please do refer as many people as you like! We are always very grateful for your support and look forward to welcoming more of your friends into our nursery family. For more information and terms and conditions, speak to the Nursery Manager.

Thank you all for your continued support as always.
