And that’s a wrap, we are at the end of August! We say a very sad goodbye to our last group of children who zoom off to big school in September. It has been an absolute blast having you all and we look forward to hearing about how you have settled into your new school soon!
Welcome to all of our new families, we have been super busy during August settling in lots of new Babies, Toddlers and Pre-schoolers. We are chuffed to bits at how well they have all settled and we look forward to sharing such special moments with you all.
During August our babies have had a great month, despite a short Covid closure. We are so grateful for such amazing families who supported us during this time. We have been busy settling in lots of new babies which brings our Tuesdays to full capacity! Throughout August, our babies have explored their senses to the max. We have visited the Caribbean, and explored scents, spices, music and vibrant colours. We created masks for our carnival day and got super messy with cornflour and slime. Our babies also had a great time painting with foil – exploring the texture and the different prints it made.
During the month of August Toddlers have had a great month exploring new activities which enhanced their senses, mathematical, language and social skills. We loved Watermelon Day, we created smoothies which tasted delicious and used cutters to create shapes out of watermelon too. Our Toddlers have shown a keen interest in baking, so we have used this opportunity to promote lots of counting and measuring. We also travelled to The Caribbean this month and enjoyed learning about the different countries and their cultures. Toddlers also had the opportunity to visit the park, they enjoyed the swings and slides and also had very interesting chats on the walk there and back!
Preschool have had a fabulous summer month. We have been focusing on oral hygiene and why it is important to eat healthy foods and look after our gum and teeth, we turned our role play into a dentist and explored what tooth decay looks like. We were super impressed that our children knew they must brush their teeth twice a day and could identify the types of foods they needed to eat to keep healthy. What a great start! We also spoke lots about exercise and considered the benefits exercise brings, trying out different exercises with our friends. Preschool loved Watermelon Day, they cut them up and made smoothies. We also travelled to the Caribbean this month and enjoyed exploring music, dance, and culture.
We are delighted that we were able to hold our graduation for our pre schoolers on 21st August. Staff and families had such a lovely time. Thank you for all who attended.
What’s coming up next month
We are obsessed with animals, critters and alike – so what better way to explore this than have ZooLab visit us for an ethical animal encounter during September.
Babies will be have their Zoolab visit on Tuesday 21st September at 9:30 and will be experiencing a Baby Sensory session with a difference. During this 45 minute session we will be exploring animals, songs, stories, action and puppetry to enhance early language development as well as physical, social and emotional development
Om 22nd September our Toddlers and Preschoolers will also be visited by Zoolab at 9:30 and will have a hands on experience with small animals. This 45 minute session will enable the children to enhance and develop their understanding of kindness as well as language and social skills.
TOSNU travels to India in September, and we will be exploring foods and their culture. Alongside this we shall also be celebrating the following:
The 6th is Read a book day, 15th is Make a hat day, 17th is Rice Krispy treat day and 30th is Harvest festival!
