Uxbridge April News: Ducklings, Technology and Earth Day

The Old Station Nursery Group - Creating Brighter Futures Together

Hello from everyone here at Uxbridge. The children have had a busy month playing, learning and having fun! A huge welcome to all of our new families this month. We are delighted to welcome you to our family here at Uxbridge. It is wonderful to see everyone settling in so well.

April news

During the month of April, we waved goodbye to the little ducklings, supported risky play within the garden with our child led obstacle courses and raised a juice to the Queen for her birthday! The children also celebrated Vaisakhi, Earth Day and St Georges Day alongside all of the other wonderful experiences we provide for our children. Lots of hand on learning for all.

This month, the Babies have really enjoyed taking part in a variety of light, sound and texture play. The children have really enjoyed making marks with paint, dipping their toes in water and creating a concert with musical instruments and voices.

The Toddlers have been celebrating lots of different occasions and events throughout April; the children made the Nisham Sahib flag, royal crowns, flags of England and decorated a cake for the Queens birthday. The Toddlers have also been learning a lot about routines and appropriate boundaries, such as walking indoors, lining up, turn taking and kindness. The children have also celebrated Earth Day by making their own planet Earth.

This month, the Preschoolers have had an exciting delivery of a brand, new state of the art touch screen computer table. They have been learning how to safely use the computer which has also promoted turn taking, working in groups and sharing. Also in April, the children have thoroughly enjoyed hatching and caring for ducklings and learning about the lifecycle of a plant. Very shortly, we will be receiving some butterflies for the children to observe and later, set free into the biwide world!

What’s coming up next month

Next month, the children will be taking part in a variety of different events such as ‘No Socks Day’, ‘Eat What You Want Day’, Eid Al Fitr, International Day of Families and Eat More Fruits and Vegetables Day. It’s going to be a busy one!

In May, we will be travelling to Italy! The Nursery Chef will be cooking up an Italian delicacy for lunch and the children will learn all about the Italian culture, food and maybe even learn some of the language!
