Hello, and welcome to our August nursery newsletter! This month the children have been super busy. We started the beginning of the month celebrating about World Cat Day and World Lion Day. we also had great fun exploring our ball pool, sensory lights, and lots of playdough fun.
We started it off by learning about cats; the children looked at different cat books and we learned that cats are all different colours! The children thought it was great fun making the sounds of the cat. They were then introduced cat puppets, to help with their imaginative play.
Next, the children learnt about lions and how they are apart of the cat family, and then had lots of fun colouring in lots of cat photos, holding on to the pencils and pens with a good pincer and palmer grip. When doing this the children had great control over holding them to be able make their own marks. The children then walked around the room doing some pretending play again using their communication skills making very loud lion roars!
Throughout the month of August, Twinkle Stars room focused on physical play, having lots of fun in the garden room, using their physical strength to pull themselves up onto the climbing frame and going down the slide independently. We also had a new ball pool so the children had great fun climbing in and out of that, and throwing the balls around and collecting them all up afterwards. In the Shooting Stars room the children have focused on communication, with lots of talking about pets we have at home. Then they looked at different books with different types of pets, learning all the different sounds that our pets make.
To finish off the month of August, the children did lots of messy play! They especially liked the playdough. They used all our different senses to explore the playdough, and added in different objects to make different marks.
What a great month we have had, and all the children are now looking forward to the month of September.
What’s coming up next month

Other important information
As a polite reminder for all our parents and carers as the weather is going to be nice and hot we will be planning summer walks to the museum and the preschool site. However, we can’t always forward plan our visits and we do go out spontaneously. Can you please ensure that sun cream and hats are being supplied for us every day.
We will also be sadly saying goodbye to Molly who has worked with us for 2 and half years, I’m sure you will join us and wish her all the luck with her next adventure. Molly’s key children will be handed over to Gemma or Megan. If you would like any more information please don’t hesitate to ask.
Thank you all for your recent reviews on Google, Facebook or Daynurseries.co.uk. Your kind words and feedback really do make our day and we really appreciate the time spent on leaving us a review.
