Royston June News: Football, Puzzles and Play Dough

The Old Station Nursery Group - Creating Brighter Futures Together

Welcome to our June newsletter! We have been delighted to see more new families join us this month, welcome to you all. The weather has been so lovely, we have enjoyed the gardens in the morning and later on in the afternoon with lots of suncream, hats and water, but have stayed inside during the middle part of the day. We have really needed some fun water play to keep cool! The whole nursery has been busy making Father’s Day cards, enjoying our creative skills. We hope all our Dads and other special men had a lovely Sunday.

June News

Our babies have been very creative this month, and their sensory play has included using glue, chalks and chunky crayons to explore different textures. We have also been enjoying our new wooden insects and learning the names of them. The babies have also been interested in our puzzles, which has helped to develop their fine motor skills.

Shooting Stars have enjoyed a large variety of messy play. The children have also had lots of fun in the garden, using the slide, the sand pit, the mud kitchen and the new footballs. They have been busy exploring animals in books, as well as water sand play. We have also been very interested in the puzzle boards!

We have really enjoyed our garden time in Sunshines, practising our ball skills and we have had great fun playing ring games. We made our own playdough and then used it to make pancakes. We also enjoyed cooking lots of other different foods in the role play area.

In Pre School 1, we have enjoyed making lots of different coloured Play Dough and enjoyed using our cutters to make lots of different shapes. We have been practising our fine motor skills by threading and have also been working on our letter recognition.

In Pre School 2, we have been busy practising our gross motor skills, with obstacle courses, using our running, jumping and throwing skills. We have also played hopscotch to help support our number recognition. We have used our imaginations in our role play area.

What’s coming up next month

We are looking forward to welcoming some more new children and their families next month. We hope that July continues to bring us lots of sunshine so that they children can continue to make the most of their outdoor areas, exploring and discovering at every opportunity!
