As usual, we have had a very busy month! I hope those of you who are term time only managed to enjoy your half term week!

February news

This month, we have all enjoyed Pancake Day in different ways! The children enjoyed eating them (of course!) but also enjoyed tuff trays with gloop so that they could pretend to make their own pancakes. The nursery as a whole also enjoyed the snow that we had; feeling the texture and the coldness as well as building things with it! It was also a fun way to explore making handprints and footprints.

We were very lucky this month as one of our families donated some books and the younger children have really been enjoying them. The children like being read to or sitting in their book arches, looking at the books by themselves and having a quiet 10 minutes. They have also got messy, exploring crazy foam in different colours as well as salt dough. The water play was made even more engaging this month by adding paint or glitter to it. The children, as always, have also enjoyed listening to music, singing and dancing inside and out the garden. They have also had fun learning actions to go with some of the songs.

The pre school children have been using the dolls house, the people and accessories to help talk about people and their different roles within the family. They have been working in groups to complete jigsaw puzzles which then led onto discussing different shapes and their names. The children have found a fun way to practice their numbers this month, by playing ‘What’s the time Mr Wolf’ in the garden. Some of the older children talked about their feelings using the emotions board and are also showing a real interest in which foods are healthy and good for us and which are not.

What’s coming up in March

We have lots of exciting celebrations and events to look forward to. We have Mother’s Day to celebrate in March and all of the children will all be busy making cards and gifts to take home. We also have World Storytelling Day to look forward to. We look forward to sharing lots of details about these events with you in next month’s newsletter!

Other important information

All of our new staff and those that need updating will be attending their first aid training next month.

Thank you all for your continued support.
