Hi to you all, we have had a busy October, and started early following the children’s interests of Autumn and Halloween. We have welcomed some new families to Small Friends, whose children are settling in well to the nursery.
The caterpillar children have really enjoyed a lot of sand play this month – we constantly mix it up, add different resources and equipment so it is always changing. The children have been practising their pouring and fine motor skills in many different ways. The children also love a story! I often see them engaged in small group story sessions together, snuggled up in the book corner. We really promote an early love of reading, enabling children to begin joining in with actions and sounds in familiar books and books they love.
The Butterfly children continue to volunteer with the Friends of Library Gardens, and they really enjoy their weekly visit helping to sweep, plant, tidy and litter pick. Inside nursery the children have been enjoying using our new construction toys – and using playdough and bricks to build strong and sturdy walls! The children have also been using their imagination – from a pile of sticks that the children worked in a group to create a camp fire and a teepee!
What’s coming up next month
Next month we will be celebrating Children In Need which is on Friday 12th November – more information will be sent out to you nearer the time.
Other important information
9 staff attended first aid training this month. It is so important that we are current and up to date in our practices to keep your children safe.
We regularly have quality audits from TOSN quality team. This months audit went very well and the team are consistently reflecting on practices and using these observations to move forward with ideas and interactions with the children, and to develop the environment to ensure it is enabling and stimulates curiosity.
Please ensure that now it is getting a little colder, your child has a named coat, hat, scarf and gloves with them – as we do play outside in all weathers. Labelling everything your child wears makes out job a little bit easier!
Just to remind you all that parents evening is WC 1st November 2021, if you haven’t booked in to see your keyperson please do get in touch and I can check the appointments available.
We hope that everyone has settled into the new term well. It is a delight to see so many happy faces around nursery! We would be thrilled if you could leave us a review on Daynurseries, Google or Facebook. To leave a review on Daynurseries click here.
Did you know that we have a refer a friend scheme? When you refer a friend to join the nursery, we will thank you with a £100 credit on your next invoice. Ask your Nursery Manager for more details.
Thank you as always for your continued support.
If you are looking for something to do at home this weekend or over the coming months, why not give our activity at home a go! Be aware that some activities or ideas may need to be adapted to suit your child’s age and development.
