November News: Creativity, Pudsey Bear and Festivities

The Old Station Nursery Group - Creating Brighter Futures Together

November news

We have had a very busy November!

The children have shown a keen interest in ‘people who help us’. They have really loved role playing working in shops and selling their own make believe ice creams to their friends and staff.

They have also been keen to find out more about Remembrance Day and making their own poppies. The children have been so proud of their many creations this month and cannot wait for home time to show their families. Our older children took part in a two minute silence for Remembrance Day and did a fantastic job at staying quiet for two minutes.

We also took part in Children in Need where lots of the children and staff dressed up in their spots, stripes and pyjamas to raise money. We talked about ways we can help charities, the children made their own Pudsey bear masks and went on a Pudsey bear hunt around the room to discover where he was.

What’s coming up in December

Our plans for December have changed slightly, however, we have all decided that as a team, we will do all we possibly can to make each day magical and eventful fothe children.

We will be doing lots of lovely activities as we progress through the month and we will also be taking part in The Old Station Nursery Group Christmas Advent Challenge. Each day in the lead up to Christmas, one nursery within the group will take part in a Christmas challenge and post a photo or video to our social media channels. We welcome parents to join in; tag us and use the hashtag #OSNAdventChallenge. For more information, take a look at our social media channels!

Throughout December we are looking forward to all things Christmas. The children will be making and creating lots of Christmas surprises. They will be learning about how other countries celebrate Christmas around the world. The children will be singing and dancing along to their favorite Christmas songs and rhymes, and having some party fun and games too.

We are already looking forward to our Christmas dinner at nursery as well as Christmas parties which will all be room based. We invite you all to participate in Christmas Jumper Day on Friday 11th December. Wear your favorite Christmas jumper to nursery on this day and the staff will be joining in too.

On the 15th December, the children in Caterpillars will be having their Christmas party day, with a party tea. On the 17th December, Jackie will be preparing and serving Christmas lunch. The children in Butterflies will have their Christmas party on the 18th December, with a party tea.

Other important information

This month, we have said goodbye to Fiona, who will relocate to Portugal as soon as Covid allows her and her family. She will remain on our bank staff to support when needed which we are very happy about! We welcome Hannah to the Small Friends team. She has been busy getting to know the children and the team and she is settling in well. Hannah is Level 3 qualified and has experience of children in different settings. If you see Hannah, please do say hello! She will be taking on a group of key children and I will update you if your child is going to be looked after by Hannah.

We will close at 6pm on Wednesday 23rd December 2020 and we will re-open again at 7.30am (for those booked on an early start) on the 4th January 2021. The last day of term for term time only/funded children, will be Friday 18th December 2020.

You will have seen that all nurseries within The Old Station Nursery Group have a fogging machine. This fantastic piece of equipment ensures that we are able to continue to maintain our high standards of cleaning with ease.

Please can I remind parents that our nursery fees are due on the 1st of each month, for that month. I understand that it may have been quite a challenging time over the past few months, especially with the uncertainty of Covid and the repercussions of it. If you are having difficulty keeping up with payments, or paying on time, please come and talk to me, this may prevent the £25 late payment charge being added to your monthly fees.

Can I also remind parents who have funding forms to complete and return to me as soon as possible so I can check and collate all the information before my Christmas leave.

And the final reminder, we have now made the move from Tapestry onto Iconnect which is our online learning journal and links with the management system used. I have sent out, a couple of times, emails inviting you to register and sign up. If you haven’t done this, can you please do so as soon as possible as you will be able to see what your child is doing in nursery. If you have any problems or questions, please do not hesitate to get in touch.
