Mottershead Drive November News: Yoga, Creativity and Outdoor Play

The Old Station Nursery Group - Creating Brighter Futures Together

November news

We have had a very busy November!

Rio, one of the wonderful members of staff at Mottershead Drive, has completed her Level 2 ‘Introduction to Yoga with Young Children’. She has held the first class with our Preschool group and whilst Rio demonstrated, the children explored a variety of yoga poses, such as butterfly, frog, flower, tree and seed. Everyone enjoyed it so much we happy to say that this will be a weekly class that all age groups can participate in.

The children were so excited to celebrate Bonfire Night this month. The children created firework pictures using various painting methods and sticking items. They then assembled a bonfire in the garden using their imagination and sticks from Forest School. It was very exciting to have sparklers and everyone enjoyed the colours as well as making patterns and shapes from the sparklers. The children tucked into delicious barbecued sausages and burgers for tea from the new fire pit. What a great way to celebrate!

This month, we also celebrated Remembrance Day. We taught our children about the significance of Remembrance Day and why people wear a poppy. The children thoroughly enjoyed painting, potato printing, mark making and messy play as introductions to the subject of Remembrance Day.

We also participated in activities for Children in Need during November. Pudsey Bear joined in with our weekly yoga session, singing and dancing with the children and even helped to bake and decorate cakes for our cake sale. Thank you, as always, to our families for supporting us and helping to raise money for Children in Need! We raised an incredible £141.80.

What’s coming up in December

It is only a few weeks away until Christmas and we have lots of fun activities planned!

We will be having our delicious home cooked Christmas dinner with all the trimmings on Wednesday 16th December. Our Christmas party will be held on Thursday 17th December. The children will be participating in party games galore and enjoying a yummy Christmas tea.

During the few weeks before Christmas, all of the children will be participating in a wide range of festive activities and games, exploring this magical time of year.

We will also be taking part in The Old Station Nursery Group Christmas Advent Challenge. Each day in the lead up to Christmas, one nursery within the group will take part in a Christmas challenge and post a photo or video to our social media channels. We welcome parents to join in; tag us and use the hashtag #OSNAdventChallenge. For more information, take a look at our social media channels!

Other important information

I would like to introduce Rosie to our team! Rosie is a very experienced practitioner and she will be taking over as Room Leader for the 2-4 group. She brings with her some amazing ideas for the group and another positive outlook for our setting. Sadly, Laura will be leaving us, we will all miss her but wish her all the best in her next adventure.

The last day of nursery before the Christmas break for all our term time only/funded children will be Friday 18th December. We will be looking forward to welcoming you all back on Tuesday 5th December. For the children that attend all year round, we will be closing at 1pm on the 24th December and reopening on Monday 4th January.

Please can I remind parents that our nursery fees are due on the 1st of each month, for that month. I understand that it may have been quite a challenging time over the past few months, especially with the uncertainty of Covid and the repercussions of it. If you are having difficulty keeping up with payments, please come and talk to me, this may prevent the £25 late payment charge being added to your monthly fees.

We have recently invested in a fogging machine for the nursery. This machine will disinfect, sanitise, deodorise and slow pathogen regrowth, offering further safety in our setting and the reassurance to our parents that we are taking every precaution to ensure the safety of your children during this pandemic.

As always, my door is always open and thank you for your continued support.
