|Welcome to Summer Term 2! I hope you are all enjoying the lovely weather and now restrictions are easing, making up for lost time with family and friends.
We are very proud of how our Mottershead Drive Nursery is continuing to grow, meaning we now have another new member of staff to introduce. Mitch has started as Bank Staff and will be supporting the 2-4 team. He is already very popular with our pre-schoolers, and we hope to see more of him as time goes on.
The 0-2 unit have been busy developing their fine motor skills through threading, cooking, and building activities this month. They have also explored water and sand trays, making links and problem solving to create the perfect sandcastles!
The 2-4 group have focussed on technology this month. Using cameras, walkie talkies and bee bots throughout play.
Both groups have been very busy creating beautiful cards and gifts for the male figures in their lives.
The nursery has also been excited to celebrate Pride Month. Each group has been involved in various colourful activities and created a special banner to share on social media. We used the activities to prompt conversations and used additional resources to express the importance of loving those who are special to us.
What’s coming up next month
Although we are going to miss our wonderful preschool children as they leave for their next adventure, we are so excited for them to start school! On Tuesday 13th July the nursery will be hosting a graduation party. Rupert and Chums will be bringing a range of animals, including ponies for the children to meet. The Pre-schoolers will also be presented a certificate and cap as a keepsake for their time at Mottershead Drive. Both rooms will be attending this special experience!
The week commencing 26th July will be when the 2-year-olds in our 0-2 unit will move to our Tots group. The remaining 3-year-olds in our Tots group will also be moving groups, joining the preschool children. All families will be informed of their new key person ahead of the move, but please do ask a member of staff if you have any queries.
Other important information
Sadly, many of our military families are being deployed this summer and therefore leaving Mottershead Drive. Please can we ask you inform the nursery of your leaving date as soon as possible. This also applies for those children leaving for school.
Over the last month, the children have spent lots of time outside, enjoying the sunshine. Please be assured that although their water is accessible throughout the day, they also have regular water breaks. The gazebos are used to provide additional shade and factor 50 sun-cream and sun hats are applied. Please can we encourage parents to provide hats and ensure children have summer clothes available in case a change of clothes is needed.
A small reminder that the summer holidays are from the Tuesday 20th July to Monday 6th September 2021.
For those of you who may be unaware. The Old Station Nursery Group has its own public Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and LinkedIn pages. Once you have liked/followed the page, you are able to view pictures of the children exploring resources and engaging in activities.
The team and I are always so grateful for your kind words and feedback during hand overs. However, if you have the time and would like to share your thoughts of the nursery environment and team further, click here to leave a review on our Daynurseries page.
30 Hours Funding:
A child will be entitled to the extended funded hours for the term after both of the following conditions and satisfied:
1. The child has reached the age of three;
2. The parents have applied before the deadline date and have a valid 30 hours free childcare eligibility code. Deadline dates are 31st August for the autumn term, 31st December for the spring term and 31st March for the summer term.
We can only claim funding for 2-year-olds that have been successful in securing a place on the achieving two-year-olds (A2YO) funding scheme and the parents have provided evidence of their eligibility letter or email issued by the Family Information Service. If an eligibility is confirmed late in the term, a back date will not be possible.
As always, thank you to all our families for your continued support. We do hope we can welcome you back into the nursery setting and host some events soon. Until then, please do not hesitate to call/email Kelly and myself with any queries or concerns.
Thank you all so much for your continued support!
