Little Houghton June News: Marble Runs, Father's Day and Gardening

Welcome to June’s newsletter! I hope you have been enjoying the lovely weather this month has given us. We have been spending lots of time outside and using water play inside to keep cool.
June NewsWe celebrated Dinosaur Day with lots of Dino-themed activities such as puzzles, using dinosaur toys to make marks on paper and large-scale foot printing outside. In the baby room we made new sensory bottles for the little ones to explore. We filled bottles with a variety of different materials; some noisy, some fascinating to watch and some that weighed more than others. The Duck’s love to explore them throughout the day. The Bears Room have been very interested in our new marble run. The children help top build the maze and love to watch the marble to run down the different sections of the maze. It’s a firm favourite for them at the moment! Preschool were very excited to see our caterpillar cocoons open up and beautiful butterflies emerge. The children have been looking at the through magnifying glasses to see all the different patterns and colours they have on their wings. It won’t be long until we can release them into the wild which we’re very excited for. Preschool have been tending to our strawberry and pepper plants by helping to care for them daily. We are currently watching them turn from green to red and cannot wait to try and taste of one very soon. We have also been very busy making some lovely cards and gifts for Father’s Day. In babies, the children made beautiful canvases, in Bears’ they painted some large pebbles and in Preschool they gave some lovely keyrings. What’s coming up next monthPreschool are getting ready for their graduation party on 14th July. Unfortunately, we aren’t able to have parents attend but we are going to be holding a party for all the school leavers to say a farewell to them before they leave for school. We will also be doing some lovely activities for Eid, International Friendship Day and the Summer Olympics. Other important informationBuilding work will be starting from 2nd July as previously mentioned on Tapestry (please see the post for more details). We are very excited to be having some much-needed work carried out on things like our Preschool toilets. Please be aware that whilst we will do our best to avoid too much disruption to the children, we may have to slightly modify our activities while the work is being carried out. We can’t wait to see the end result! Well done to Nicole and Jess for completing their Autism Awareness training this month! Thank you all for your continued support.
