Welcome to July’s newsletter! It has been another busy one as we have embarked on our refurbishment of the nursery. As the work progresses further, we will be updating you all with the changes. Work has first started on our preschool toilets, and we will share a photo once they are put in and near completion – we are so excited to see the end result! We have also welcomed new staff and children and have been enjoying the hot (and wet!) weather as well as having a Graduation for our school leavers.
The Ducks’ have been very interested in bubbles in recent weeks, so they have been exploring this by having the bubble machine on, making bubbles snakes and lots of bubble exploration! This is a great sensory experience for the children as it explores touch but also sight and hearing as the bubbles make noises as they pop.
Bears’ have been exploring the guttering outside, first they used balls to roll them down the channels, then they used water and watched it collect at the bottom. The children then worked together to try and collect the water at the bottom and stop it from spilling on the floor. This was great teamwork all round and the children had great fun in the sunshine!
In Preschool, we hosted a graduation for all of this year’s school leavers and we are very sad to see them all leave us. Some children have been with us since small babies, so it really is an ‘end of an era’ when they fly the nest to big school. We were sad that again this year parents weren’t about to join the event, but we took plenty of photos and videos of the children to share with you. The children each collected a certificate whilst wearing a gown and hat and then they sang a special graduation song. Later we had games and an afternoon tea all together before they went home.
Preschool have also been looking at differences in cultures, families and celebrations in recent weeks and it has been really interesting to hear all of the different things children celebrate at home.
During a recent downpour, we took the opportunity to go and have a good splash in the puddles with our wellies and waterproofs on!
This month we also celebrated Islamic festival Eid by looking at the different moon cycles and trying to make moons with playdough. We also cut out the symbol for Islam and decorated it to make mobiles.
What’s coming up next month
Our refurbishment will continue across the nursery, and we will keep you posted as to what is going to be worked on next. One area is a brand-new milk kitchen and nappy area in the baby room so watch this space!
We are also looking forward to the Paralympics and will be planning some sports activities with the children, watching some clips of the competition as well as talking about disabilities.
Other important information
I completed my 12 hours Paediatric First Aid training, so this then means that all but two of our staff are now trained in First Aid. This is excellent news as it means we have plenty of staff on hand just in case. It is always our aim to have as many staff trained in first aid as possible.
We welcome some new staff to our Team – Georgie Penny and Kaycie Brown have joined our Bank team and we also welcome Olivia Gaddard who is joining our baby room due to our increase in numbers in there.
Please can we remind parents to apply sun cream to their children before nursery and we can then reapply later on in the day as and when needed. Thank you.
We just wanted to remind you of our Refer a Friend scheme. When you refer a friend and they join the nursery, we will thank you with a £100 discount off your next invoice. We know that you are always recommending us, so we just wanted to say a big thank you for your referrals. There is no limit on referring your friends, so please do refer as many people as you like! We are always very grateful for your support and look forward to welcoming more of your friends into our nursery family. For more information and terms and conditions, speak to the Nursery Manager.
Thank you all for your continued support.
