What a busy month it has been!
At the start of the month, the children were all very excited to see that we had snow! We had a great time making snow angels in the garden, making snow people and we also brought some snow inside and painted it.
There has also been lots of fun events in February. First, we had Valentine’s Day where we talked to the children about who they loved. We also asked them to think about what they loved about themselves. The children made some lovely heart-themed cards and made a window display with the children’s Valentine’s themed artwork.
We then celebrated Chinese New Year by having a Chinese dish on the menu cooked by our Nursery Chef, Sarah. We also introduced the children to chop sticks and they practiced their fine motor skills by trying to pick up rice with them. The children in Preschool made Chinese fans and decorated them with traditional red colours and gold glitter.
For Pancake Day, the children ate pancakes for a snack with a variety of toppings such as fruit and squirty cream. The children then had a pancake race in the garden and we had a winner’s ceremony afterwards. The children (and staff!) had great fun in taking part.
The children in Bears and Preschool made some bird feeders because, as we know at that this time of year, food can be scarce for them. Preschool threaded hooped cereal onto pipe cleaners and we sent them home with the children to hang in their gardens. Bears stuck birdseed to slices of oranges using butter and then visited our local Scouts Field to hang them in the trees.
We all took part in the #ThumbsUpForEarlyYears campaign which aimed to show appreciation to all the people who are working in Early Years during the pandemic. Thank you so much to everyone who took part! We had great fun encouraging the children at nursery to take part too.
What’s coming up in March
We have more exciting events coming up in March. We will be celebrating St. David’s Day on the 1st March and St. Patrick’s Day on the 17th March. The children will be having some exciting food on the menu to celebrate these days along with some fun activities throughout the day.
We will be celebrating Mother’s Day on the 14th March. Expect some nice surprises to come home with the children around this time.
We will also be celebrating World Book Day on 4th March and we are inviting parents to upload a photo of their children with their favourite book, but we will also remind you nearer the time.
