Welcome to our August Newsletter. We are still in the middle of the nursery renovations but the Preschool toilets are now finished and looking fantastic! We are very excited to see the results of our new nappy changing unit in the baby room which is coming along nicely.
In the baby room, they celebrated National Lion Day. The older children decorated paw prints with paint using cotton buds and the younger babies used their fingers. We then looked at lion books together. The babies have also been completing puzzles that we made using their own photos, the children loved doing this and had big smiles when they completed them!
Recently the Bears found a bug in the garden, so they decided to extend this and use the minibeasts toys we had inside. They looked at the minibeasts using magnifying glasses to look at the different details and then created amazing pictures using paint and stencils. The Bears have also had a big interest in our new outside easel and have been using whiteboard pens to create beautiful masterpieces!
In Preschool, they have been focussing on number recognition in a variety of different activities. We have been singing number songs, matching numbered items to written numbers and also painting numbers using stencils. Preschool have also been going on lots of walks around the village – recently we took the children to go and see the hay bails that are currently in the field near nursery. We talked about what they were, why there were there and how tall we thought they were stacked.
What’s coming up next month
We have lots of lovely things planned for the children next month, a couple of these are Work Clean Up Week (week beginning 12th September), we will be taking the children around the village to see what litter we can find and safely picking it up (using litter pickers) and talking to the children about why it’s important that we don’t drop litter.
This will then lead us nicely to Recycling Week (week beginning 20th September) where we will be looking at what can and can’t be recycled and the importance of recycling and reusing things where we can.
On 14th September, we are planning an 10 year anniversary celebration for the staff and children. We are planning on having fun games, dancing, and party food to celebrate our opening day 10 years ago.
Other important information
We are very sad to sad that our lovely Beth from Preschool is going to be leaving us at the end of September. Beth has been offered an amazing opportunity to work for the NHS in the children’s mental health sector. We are going to be super sad to see her leave us after her working with us for over 6 years. We wish her the best of luck with her new venture.
