I would really like to officially welcome all the children and families back to Small Friends!
The staff that are back are so happy to be here and have adapted well to some new ways of working. The children have also been amazing in adapting to some changes in the nursery environment and routine. It is great to see the changes in their development, personalities and height since lockdown! Finally, a big thank you to our parents and carers for your support, patience and cakes.
The children have really enjoyed seeing their friends again and have settled back into the nursery day and routine very well, they are a real credit to their parents.
We have all spent a lot of time in the garden this month, enjoying the fresh air. The children have been climbing, balancing, investigating, testing out their ideas and building models. Long may the good weather continue!
The children have also been extremely talkative. It is wonderful to hear some very wide vocabulary and describing words being used as well as some of our younger children forming sentences and asking lots of questions.
What’s coming up in July
We look forward to welcoming more of our Small Friends back to nursery in July.
For those with children that are starting Reception in September, we have been and are continuing to talk to your child’s new school teachers and school via online meetings and telephone calls; this is to discuss relevant information and details that we feel they need in order to make the transition as smooth as possible.
We will be celebrating International Friendship Day during July; highlighting the importance of friendships with one another, being kind, helpful, thoughtful and discussing how this makes us feel. We will explore this throughout the day as we always do but we will also introduce some other games and activities; games to encourage confidence building when talking to others and being polite and respectful to those we aren’t as familiar with.
Other important information
The children are currently in mixed age group bubbles and the staff members allocated to these groups will take on the role of keyperson, re-establishing strong bonds and relationships. The key people are documenting regular observations and photographs and publishing these on Tapestry for you to see. They will also be helping your children to work towards their Next Steps through exciting experiences and activities. If there is anything you would like us to work towards or support your child with, please let us know by commenting or writing a new post on Tapestry or by contacting me directly.
Many of you will have returned on a different attendance pattern to ease your child back into the nursery environment. If you wish to increase the days you require, please email me and I can arrange this for you.
In order to bring the nursery group together, we will be merging our Facebook page with The Old Station Nursery page. Our Facebook page will move over on Monday 6th July, so please ensure that you are following The Old Station Nursery page by then to keep up to date with all of our latest news and to continue to receive regular insight into nursery life.
